iPhone-Dev released a major Redsn0w update earlier today, though MuscleNerd front man of iPhone-Dev team didn’t announce the release on Twitter but it was updated on their blog. Redsn0w 0.9.10b7 which is now the latest offering from the most popular team support A5 devices which includes iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Remember that Redsn0w was not updated for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak in January. iPhone-Dev team released CInject which a command line jailbreaking solution. Even though CInject worked perfectly fine but the process was really hard for people who are new to jailbreaking. Absinthe was used to jailbreak both iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1.
Anyhow coming back to today’s major update, let’s discuss some changes first. As I mentioned above Redsn0w 0.9.10b7 now supports iPhone 4S and iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak which will make the jailbreaking process for both these devices much easier. Custom IPSW creation feature also got a little make over, this updated version of redsn0w now automatically downloads SHSH blobs for your device from Cydia servers which you can stitch to to create Custom IPSW files.
If you’ve accidentally uninstalled your Corona 5.0.1 Untether then you can use redsn0w 0.9.10b7 to untether jailbreak your all non A5 iOS device which got their untethered jailbreak back in December last year. Redsn0w 0.9.10B7 also gives your more information about connected devices, this new feature is great for iPhone 3GS owners because now they won’t need third party tools to check whether their iPhone 3GS has an old bootrom or new bootrom. Remember that iPhone 3GS with old bootrom can jailbreak it untethered on any iOS firmware. Last but not the least the team has also announced that upcoming versions of redsn0w will support iOS restore, which means you won’t need iTunes for restoring your iPhone or any other iOS device. Right now a lot of people get many errors while restoring their iOS device but this new upcoming feature will take your headache away.
Redsn0w 0.9.10b7 Release Notes:
Version 0.9.10b7 of redsn0w adds a collection of useful features: It finally implements the corona-A5 jailbreak for iPhone4S and iPad2 devices still at 5.0.1. It can also re-install that jailbreak for those who accidentally uninstalled the untether. When stitching an IPSW, it can now grab your blobs directly from Cydia. It now shows a lot more info about your device (for instance, whether your iPhone3G has the vulnerable baseband boot loader, or whether your iPhone3GS has the oldexploitable bootrom. (And the next new feature to be added will be built-in restore support, to provide an alternative to iTunes restores.)
