if i try to turn on VPN it brings me to a new page and gives me 3 new tabs and spots to fill in information. my only options are to cancel or fill out all these random boxes. the Save option is greyed out…wtf.

Well over there it just says “Aconfiguration error uccurred.” So, should we just wait? or re-re-reboot again the iDevice? What do you suggest? Or should we just re-jailbreak ? Thank you so much for all your help guys !!!

once o turn on the vpn, the phone reboots and then the icon AbSynthe changes to cydia. Works like a charm…

I cant get the VPN to connect, keep getting an error message. Any solution to this problem?

i have two ipad2 one is gsm and 2nd is wifi
both gave me same error database connection
on gsm itried vpn it rebooted and all is well
but wifi ipad2 is not working still

Okay soooo…. I don’t understand why it will not connect to the VPN and Absinthe is only white screening. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I am connected to WIFI and it still is not working.

Siri works and so does imessage after a restart.

I’m having that problem too, man I have a sprint 4s and as soon as i jailbroke it, it still said sprint but once i installed sbsettings and restarted my springboard, it said NO SERVICE… does anyone have a solution?

anyone know if we HAVE to restore the phone (lose all my data) before using the jailbreak tool? why cant i just run the jailbreak if i’m already on 5.0.1 with all my data on it. i don’t want to put my 150 apps back on my device. i have them all arranged perfectly as is. why should i have to restore to something im already on?

How long did you have to wait before it rebooted? Mine seems to refuse to reboot after discarding the “a configuration error has occurred” message.

mine too, it should reboot itself after the message has been discarded but no luck here, I’m guessing that yours is the same?

From what I get, it’s supposed to say that, but it’s also supposed to reboot your device when discarded, didn’t work for me though.

go into settings—>general—->VPN. Then got to setting and turn on the vpn from there and try to launch icon again

This worked for my ipad 2:

1. Reset all network settings
2. Delete absinthe from your springboard
3. Download absinthe version absinthe-mac-0.1.2-2
4. Instal absinthe-mac-0.1.2-2
5. Run the jailbreak process
6. It should restart your ipad 2 automatically, If not then do the VPN trick
7. Once restarted you’ll get the Cydia Icon instead of absinthe.

TO CLEAR UP SOME BASIC QUESTIONS THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL ASKING IN THE COMMENTS.

- Absinthe is only released for Mac OS X at this time. No windows build exists to download (yet)

-This jailbreak will work on the iPhone 4S 5.0 and 5.0.1 (9A406 and 9A405) and iPad 2 5.0.1
- YES, it works on both the WiFi and 3G versions of the iPad 2.

- NO, THIS IS NOT AN UNLOCK, just a jailbreak. No unlock exists yet for ANY baseband on the 4S, and it is recommended that if you jailbreak, you jailbreak on 5.0 to preserve the lowest baseband possible to unlock IN THE FUTURE.

- A windows version IS coming, ETA isn’t official. Probably tomorrow or in a couple days.

- The jailbreak DOES work, but seems to be buggy. This is sort of a blessing in disguise for Windows users. The bugs (well, some of them) will be worked out by the time the Windows version of Absinthe releases.

- There has been an updated version of Absinthe for Mac users. It fixes the database errors and removes the need for the VPN “trick”. Should make the process faster and easier.

I’cant run Absinthe on iPad2. I tried turn on VPN but it reuturn error. After running app i have white screen and sometimes i get error that Absinthe site is not available. I tried to run it many times. I tried to reboot ipad, connect and disconnect it from pc and i have no success

the jailbreak works fine for me on iPad 2 but now none of my apps will open. any ideas?

try this instead, remove absinthe from the device, turn off your wifi and data. then re jailbrake again. works fine for me.

Remove all passcodes from iPhone/iPad then rerun the jailbreak, i’ve tried on my ipad2, and it works.

for all of you having problems with no reboot after vpn error, try this:

download the updated version of absinthe
restore your ipad so that it completely takes away the jailbreak that you just tried.
jailbreak your ipad again using the new version of absinthe.
run the app. you will not need to go to the vpn setting anymore.

i just installed the absinthe app, but got a white screen on my IPAD 2 64GB 3G, after reading a bit on the net i found that i should disable all pas codes and delete my mail accounts which i did, then i should turn on vpn, but i keep getting the error message “vpn-connection configuration error” in the configuration i can see the jailbreak configuration and it’s set on ‘connect on request’, when connecting to the vpn-server it tries to connect to 127.0.0.1. Please advice? thanks!

forgot to mention i got a white screen AFTER pushing the ‘absinthe app’ on the iPad

This hole windows things is a bit misleading. I have Windows 7 on a laptop (HP Pavilion). I don’t own a Mac, but you don’t need a Mac to jailbreak using Absinthe now. I have used Absinthe through a VMWare image of OSX Lion 10.7.2. This worked for me!! I just download through Safari in VMWare, ran Absinthe, and enabled the iPad after connecting it through VMWare. ;-0 I don’t have time to write a tutorial on how to do this. But if anyone else has been wondering if you can, the answer is YES. I have a iPad2 64GB 3G, and used the most current version of Absinthe.

i finally got it to work on my ipad 2+3g.. i guess because i first tried it and i had a passcode. i deleted the absinthe icon from homepage and rebooted, then disabled passcode, restored from backup in itunes then re did jailbreak…all works fine now

now if anyone can tell me how to get installous ??:)

I did the jailbreak with absinthe and continue on to have the cydia logo showing on screen. Problem is that the Cydia app does not load… it attempts to load but boots out. Any idea why? Also- the network showing is SPRINT- it was purchased before November while their Iphones were being issued Unlocked- but how would I know if it works on other carriers?

I did the jailbreak but now my absinthe not loading. It says “Absinthe is now setting things up, please stand-by” and it stays there nothing happen.

If i restore to factory settings, will I be able to put everything back on from a backup or no?

I just purchased the 4s after turning off password and all i-cloud settings I ran the jailbreak for the 3rd time. I had turned the phone off once. Just sitting here on the 3rd attempt the phone rebooted itself and Cydia icon showed up. Maybe the Jailbreak takes a while to kick in. Be patient try turning off all unnecessary settings and give it a few trys. It does work on the new Iphone 4s

****** FELLAS THE WAY I GOT PASSED THE STUPID “URL error” message was this!!!
1) Launch absinthe app
2) plug iPhone in (5.0, 5.01)
**TURN SCREEN LOCK TO “NEVER”
3) then press jailbreak (if you are the many ppl who got the error message fallow to next step..
**4) WHEN IT GET TOWARDS THE END CLICK THE “X” (kill box button top right corner!!) and if it doesnt allow u to ctrl+alt+delete (task manger it the kill process) and windows 7 WILL FIX THE PROBLEM !!! IT WILL BYPASS THE ERROR AND ALOW U TO GET CYDIA WEN ABSINTHE APP IS LAUNCHED.!!

If you got this error, I suggest you restore your device to ios 5.0.1 and try to jailbreak again. I had to do this like three or four times to get it to work.

I’ve given up too, can’t get the VPN to turn on will just have to leave it un jailbreaked.
It worked smoothly for my friend though. Quite strange!!!

Make sure you run Version 0.3 and NOT 0.4!!!!!!!!!

Hey I figured out the problem TRY THIS!!!!! Make sure your using 0.3 Verison and NOT I REPEAT NOT 0.4!!!!

Guys, I’ve been on the same struggle for couple of days and finally got the solution! Restore your iOS5 and run the device as new one, without syncing it. Immediately after the restore run absinthe 0.3 and that’s all! Cheers!
