iFaith 1.4 Released: Major Upgrade For The SHSH Tool

A major update has been released for the iFaith application by the iOS hacker and sn0wbreeze creator iH8sn0w. iFaith, like TinyUmbrella, allows to save your iOS device’s SHSH blobs which is necessary to preserve the ability to downgrade firmware in the future.

It doesn’t support the A5 devices and the Mac OS X version is also unavailable. However, the update supports iOS versions upto 5.0.1, so if you have an A4 device and a simple Windows PC. It is highly recommended that you download the latest update of iFaith.

Apple has been signing SHSH blobs differently in iOS 5 than they did in the previous iOS versions, snatching the ability of replaying them during a firmware restore from the users. And many of you would be aware by now that downgrading firmware in iOS 5 is almost impossible.

But iFath, along with saving the accompanying AP ticket, saves your SHSH blobs, which makes downgrading theoretically possible.

iH8sn0w says the blob-dumping is much faster than before. Along with that the new iFaith brings about some major bug fixes. You can download the new iFaith from iH8sn0w’s website.

    I dumped my shsh blobs of ios5.0 in Iphone 4
    now it created a file which i saved in my pc
    now can anyne tell me how to do a restore using this file and if i upgrade to ios 5.0.1 , how can i downgrade using this file?

    so “Practically” its still impossible to do a restore or downgrade from ios 5.0.1 to 5.0 even if shsh blobs saved ?
    then what is the purpose of this Ifaith thing ?

    For now it is “useless”, but maybe one time you would love to have your 5.0 or 5.0.1 shsh blobs already saved…

    Yeah… Just jailbreak with redsn0w, it will be semitethered until you install mobile substrate (Semitether is unavailable below iOS 5)

    Okay, iFaith will save the SHSH+ blobs for non A5 devices running iOS 5
    And we will not be able to use them until some devs do some hacky hacky on the restore ramdisks to allow the generated APTicket to match the one saved with the blobs

    You CAN use these dumps to downgrade on iOS 5.x because it saves the SHSH blobs and the APTicket from your device. You just need to use sn0wbreeze to create a custom IPSW with your saved info.

    Yes! When you boot tethered, you still have to point it to the same firmware file you used to jailbreak initially. It seems you have to specify the ipsw every time befor you click “Just boot tethered”. Also, do not release the home button when entering DFU mode until you see the pineapple. Hope this helps!
