iOS 5.1 Beta 3 Reveals Facebook Integration In iOS And More About iPad 3

Apple seeded a new iOS 5.1 update, beta 3, last week with some improvements and bug fixes. One of the main things that iOS 5.1 beta 3 brought is that now you can enable and disable the 3G toggle on iPhone 4S. For jailbreakers, iOS 5.1 beta 3 patched Corona 5.0.1 untethered exploit.

However, a developer could dig deep in its code to discover hidden treasures. Deep in iOS 5.1 beta 3, there are mentions to two next-generation iPad 3 code names, J1AP and J2AP, as well as ongoing references to Facebook integration into iOS.

This iPad 3 code names discovery confirms a previous rumor by DigiTimes that the 2012 next gen iPad will be developed under codenames J1 and J2. In other words, two iPads will be launching in 2012.

As we know, iOS 4 was set to have Facebook integration but when the agreement couldn’t be reached between the two companies, it was dropped from the iOS.

Now, we can do nothing but wait and see what Apple has with iOS 6 and let’s hope that what we’re seeing in the iOS 5.1 beta 3 is accurate.

On my iPhone 4S running onn 5.0.1, it’s not there so maybe it’s a glitch. I had already checked before I posted. So as far as the information I have from my own device, that’s what I came up with. If its on your device, fine, then maybe mine is glitched like I said. Stop being an asshole.

It is only under iCloud Contacts. when you click add field, twitter pops up. when you start to add a twitter username, facebook pops up. If you add a facebook name, flickr pops up…

It works like this:
You add a twitter field to a contact, then you click on the “twitter” header in front of it, and it shows you many options, including FB and Flickr

I have a stupid question…. one of the main “updates” on 5.1 is the ability to toggle 3G. Why would I want to downgrade to less than 3G? I mean, manufactures and technology have been touting 4G for over a year now, why would Apple want us to use edge?? Is this just a way around their inability for fix their battery issue in the iphone 4s? Other than battery conservation, what possible benefit would happen if we used edge?

There is no benefit. At all. I honestly don’t understand why anyone would want to use edge as opposed to 3G lol. Unless you have like 1 bar with 3G and turning it to edge would give you a full signal, I really don’t see any benefit to that feature.
