Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11 Released To Support iOS 5.0.1

On the release of every new iOS software update from Apple, hackers and developers start to update their tools to support the new update. With the release of iOS 5.0.1, iH8sn0w today updated Sn0wbreeze to support iOS 5.0.1. Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11 briefly brings iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak on Windows using custom firmwares.

Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11

There’s currently no untethered iOS 5 jailbreak, but there will be soon thanks to a security flaw and iOS 5 bug. However, a semi tethered jailbreak can be done using redsn0w 0.9.9b8 then installing SemiTether from Cydia, full details and instructions here.

What’s the advantage of Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11? Well, Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11 allows you to cook pre-jailbroken custom firmwares of iOS 5.0.1 final version with your tweaks & apps. It also allows you to preserve your iPhone baseband so you can unlock it using the updated Ultrasn0w.

    Can you tell me what Sn0wbreeze is supposed to provide after download. I don’t get an ipsw. I downloaded the software more times than 1 would believe in the past week. First time it seemed to create icons on my desktop for recover and ipsw. Now, I wanted to try to jailbreak and unlock again. All I get is the Sn0wbreeze icon. Am I doing something wrong? I have an iphone 3Gs ios 5.0.1 that a friend gave me. I’m ready to go insane. Any help would be appreciated.

    Does it support Gevey SIM? I’m running Gevey SIM (iPhone4) on iOS 5, the upgrade was done by sn0wbreeze.

    Hi, I was followed everything on sn0wbreeze and finally it says,

    Now your device in PWNED DFU State. lunch iTunes and Press Shift + Restore to select sn0wbreeze IPSW located on your Desktop.

    I did it and iTunes giving me a error after it extract data.. The error is,

    The iPhone “IPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194).

    Please anyone help me with this…

    Hello, when I use sn0wbreeze to jailbreak my iOS 5.0.1 itouch, when I open the program, my cursor is constantly doing a loading/refresh symbol, this won’t come off and also everything lags, takes a good minute or two to click the blue arrow to advance, any help? Is it my computer’s problem?

    My sn0wbreeze custom firmware for 5.0.1 has a couple of bugs that I would like to point out to any developers who might be reading this:

    - Chinese keyboards crash apps and springboard when employed within the app or to name a folder with chinese characters.

    - attempting to attach/send a photo taken from the palringo app crashes palringo.

    otherwise, no problems and very happy with the hack! as the Chinese keyboard problem is of particular importance to me, i really hope this issue can be sorted out in future iterations.

    did you turn off 3g, tmobile doesnt support the 3g on iphone, it will prevent you from having service on your 3gs, btw. i am using an oldbootrom 3gs on 5.0 with ipad baseband and custom firmware made by sn0wbreeze
