Some of you may remember when Steve Jobs, during an Apple earnings call in 2010, said that the iPad’s screen would never be any smaller than its current measurement of 9.7 inches (diagonally). However, recent rumors say that Jobs’ statement may have been the plan of action (or lack there of) at the time, and that now Apple is going to try and beat the competitor tablets by decreasing the iPad’s screen dimensions.
According to The Next Web, Apple has allegedly been testing these new, 7.85-inch screens with a Taiwanese panel maker company called AU Optronics. Also, iPad production has apparently ramped up tremendously, seeing that last week Apple ordered the production of more than 1 million iPad 3 units.
If these rumors of a smaller iPad size turned out to be true, it would show that Apple intends on keeping the iPad as the best tablet on the market, and it would certainly cause trouble for the competing companies (Samsung, Amazon, Blackberry , etc.) trying to outdo the iPad.
What do you think? Would you buy a smaller (possibly cheaper?) iPad 3? iPad mini? Let us know in the comments below.
