You do not need to download another ipsw or restore. Just download the jailbreak and click on jailbreak. Once you device reboots, just tap on the Absinthe app that was created and it will reboot again, turning that absinthe app into cydia.

If you encounter the “Error Establishing a Database Connection” just go to Settings > VPN > Turn VPN ON and you should see your iPhone reboot and then you’re done!!

the JB is not working on my iphone 4s, i get the absinthe icon on the homescreen but i click and it just goes to a white page and doesn’t do anything after that. I will scour the net for more info about his issue. Or if anyone has any ideas i will be watching this post also.

Tried opening on three different Macs (OS X Lion, two on Snowleopard) and it wouldn’t work on any of them. Crashes immediately on Lion and one Snowleopard machine. The third machine wouldn’t recognize my iPhone. Any known problems or additional upgrades needed? It would be great for successful jailbreakers to share their settings.

Worked Great! iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 wifi Jailbroken. First restored with the firmware file provided above and then connected iPad and ran jailbreak. Once Absinthe showed up on home screen clicked it but to an error message “database connecting cannot be established’. Went into settings>general>VPN>ON saw the jailbreak connection there and made sue everything was turned on. Restarted iPad and DONE! Cydia was there

Didn’t work for me. Latest version (5.0.1) with unlocked phone. It recognizes the phone, but after starting it just stays with probably 1/8% of the progress line forever. Then, nothing more happens. If I close the program and start it again it restores with success, but the jailbreak still doesn’t work, it just happens the same again… any hints?

Try going to Cydia and reinstalling mobilesubstrate. Then a reboot. Hope that helps.

Is very simple. I did it twice. 1) backup device. 2) Restore with the firm provided. 3) Without any setup on your ipad2 / iphone4s, simply apply jailbreak. And it´s done. Nothing wrong in mi case.

Well I followed the instructions on the jailbreak with my iphone4s white model 5.0.1. I had no problems and was done under 15 minutes on a Mini Mac. I thank all the teams for working hard and will donate to them

restore with iTunes. If you get error 1600, re-install iTunes and try again. Was unable to restore on my mac Pro but succeeded with restore on desktop PC using this method and then used Absinthe again

Same here with an iPad2….I have the last itunes 10.5.3(3), snow leopard 10.6.7…and itunes recognized the ipad good….I tried in other USB, rebooting, in DFU, but nothing…..I tried also with the 0.1.2-1 and 0.1.2-2 versions of Absinthe with equal results….cant press the Jailbreak button cause Absinthe isn´t recognizing the device…I can´t access also to the Absinthe menu, up in the menu bar…

This worked perfect, I have Verizon 4S Black 16GB A405. I followed the exact steps in the video and worked flawlessly. For me I did backup, restore (used A405 IPSW), went through the quick setup on iPhone, waited till activated from Verizon message, and continued with Absinthe. I made sure to turn off iTunes auto sync (Preferences/devices), disconnected iPhone, ran Absinthe waited for it to open, connected iPhone, once detected followed instructions. DO NOT DISCONNECT UNTIL COMPLETE, AND YOU HAVE CLICKED ON ABSINTHE ON THE PHONE. Follow the instructions and you should be good.
As always you guys rock, I don’t know how you do it, but truly a work of art!

CONFIRMED – I’m a Windows user and got tired of how long it was taking for a Windows release to come through.. so I created a virtual machine on my Windows 7 machine with Mac OSX on it. Ran the JB program on it with no issues at all – 100% successful. Been using it for a while, installed SB settings and so on – no issues whatsoever. If you’re tired of waiting for a Windows release and have the capability of doing this.. I’d say try it.

For those having SBsettings woes, seeing no service, easy fix is to go to settings, general, networks and disable cellular data and voice roaming. Wait for carrier to show and the enable them back. I’m not sure what is causing this with SBsettings, but I can reproduce the same problem on occasional respring and sometimes a reset. Hopefully a single bug that will get worked out. PS if you get the random white icons like OS diag reset seems to clear that up.

Fellow windows peeps, for those who want to try to do VMWare on Windows 7 machines.
Here’s the basic steps (obviously you’ll need to look for actual links)
1. get VMWare (7.1-8 all works) (~500mb)
2. get OS X image made for VMWare (from reports older OSX versions doesn’t work, I used 10.7 Lion myself) (2.5-7 GB)
3. get VMWare OSX Unlocker, you need this to run your image
4. you probably need to turn on VT-x from your system BIOS

TO CLEAR UP SOME BASIC QUESTIONS THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL ASKING IN THE COMMENTS.

- Absinthe is only released for Mac OS X at this time. No windows build exists to download (yet)

-This jailbreak will work on the iPhone 4S 5.0 and 5.0.1 (9A406 and 9A405) and iPad 2 5.0.1
- YES, it works on both the WiFi and 3G versions of the iPad 2.

- NO, THIS IS NOT AN UNLOCK, just a jailbreak. No unlock exists yet for ANY baseband on the 4S, and it is recommended that if you jailbreak, you jailbreak on 5.0 to preserve the lowest baseband possible to unlock IN THE FUTURE.

- A windows version IS coming, ETA isn’t official. Probably tomorrow or in a couple days.

- The jailbreak DOES work, but seems to be buggy. This is sort of a blessing in disguise for Windows users. The bugs (well, some of them) will be worked out by the time the Windows version of Absinthe releases.

- There has been an updated version of Absinthe for Mac users. It fixes the database errors and removes the need for the VPN “trick”. Should make the process faster and easier.

no its not that. i just happen to have a mac (which im grateful for) but im not against windows or windows users. you are right, and i agree, it would have been better if they waited for both build to be ready. id be okay to wait if that was the case (being a mac user) . but all im saying is, if it was the other way around, and the windows version would have been released first, i would not go about and say that i would be happy for the windows users to get all the bugs. that is just really messed up. and a lot of you guys are like this which i really dont understand. but okay no worries. to each his own.

Fixed it by updating itunes to the latest… now stuck at ‘Waiting for reboot – Not done yet’

keep getting access denied after cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig

After a load of retries, it’s now randomly working. don’t know what fixed it but if you have any problems just keep rebooting vmware, reconnecting iphone, and anything else you can think of

Completely new guide for noobs. I just found a way to do it on my iPad 2 [Wifi only] on iOS 5.0.1..
1) Download the file above in step 3, then extract the folder to your Downloads. (Start Menu, your name, then on the left, downloads.)
2) There should now be a folder called: “cinject_0.4.3″
3) Open up CMD and type this (Without “” quotes..): “cd downloads”
4) Then, do: “cd cinject_0.4.3″
5) After so, type this command into cmd.. “cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig”
6) On your device, click on install, and when prompted to type in a password, just click next, with no password in.
7) After so, type this command: “cinject.exe -j payloads” Just wait a little bit. ( Don’t freak out, or jizz )
9) Now after a few minutes from step 8, now type this command: “execute the command: cinject.exe -w”
10) On your device, after doing step 9, toggle the “VPN” switch on in the settings, in about a few seconds after, it should say error.

Some one else had that problem and they went to settings, general, reset and reset all settings or reset network settings. Can’t remember which but you can try both.

all the talk of the “VPN” was simply what was exploited to jb the device. if you look in the VPN area there is a “jailbreak” vpn connection.

my phone is hanging after running absinthe on the phone, assuming my numerous VPN connections i have played a part for it not installing cydia ( when i tried to activate the vpn after running absinthe it was prompting for my work VPN credentials took 10 minuites and did nothing, i pad2 took seconds) i removed all my VPN connections and it successfully installed cydia

Tried to Jailbreak with the CLU(?), but had no success on my iPhone 4s, however i did succeed on my iPad 2! Now when i try to use absinth it just tells me that i have already tried jailbreaking my device and it tries to restore it, then tells me to unplug and plug back in. Only loops tho, help!

you need to have less coffee before you try jailbreaking. If the jailbreak button isn’t available yet is because you haven’t plugged in your iphone yet and it has been recognized.
1. Start the Absinthe software
2. THen plug in your phone to your computer.
3. Now you can click on the jailbreak button

Worked fine without restoring first. I was already at 5.0.1, 9A406

getting a message saying “looks like you attempted to apply this jailbreak and it failed…………..”. the it recovers files and asks me to unplug and plug back in.

That’s what I did. I plugged in, unplugged and replugged several times and it still didn’t work. Tried restarting both my computer and my phone. No luck.

I am Having a problem where I clicked the button and the jailbreak started but the bar went only a quarter of the way. NOw when i plug my phone in to my computer and open absinthe it tells me “looks like you attempted to apply this jailbreak and failed message”… ive tried unlpugging and plugging back in the phone and still same message. (I havent tried restoring my phone.) Thanks ahead of time:) also thanks for all the hard work the dream team has done on this!!!

Here’s what you do:

Turn off your MacBook. Then turn it back on in Safe Mode; do this by holding down the Shift key while powering on. Once the computer is started up, open Absinthe and plug in your phone. Wait a few seconds and the Jailbreak button will become active. Voila! Finally got mine jailbroken and it took less than 10 minutes…maybe even less than 5. Thanks, Dev Team!

again nothing after 5 hrs with the other software, just got home, downloaded, clicked, nothing, no pop up nothing, run as admin, same, nothing 5 mins later pops up, jailbreak greyed out, usb out and in pop up to view files ect, program still greyed out

No worries. The white icon can’t harm. One time it’s the music icon, the other time is’t the calendar icon. The apps still work!

this is happening to me too. I tried rebooting, killing task with multitask bar, but it still happens. i noticed that right when it launches it goes online to do something (as seen with the icon spinning near the carrier name) but after a few seconds it goes away. I tried switching from 3G to Wifi and it didnt make a difference.

The damn program keeps saying it quit unexpectedly i try relaunching it and nothing… it’s getting annoying this is my 4th time deleting and re-installing the program and nothing…

I had a lot of problems trying to JB my Ipad 2 kept stopping in the middle of the JB tried 20 different fixes for 1 hour none worked till I did this simple task…

Unzip BOTH the absinthe.exe and Data into one folder on your desktop (before I only unzipped the absinthe.exe on my desktop) and then do the JB it worked perfectly.
JUST WISHED SOMEONE SAID THIS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS WOULD HAVE SAVE ME A LOT OF GRIEF! Good Luck

Bug once jail broken?
When you press and hold the volume DOWN key, it’s meant to instant,y mute. But it doesn’t? It just slowly goes down as though you were pressing it several times…
Not really an issue with the mute lock, but nonetheless still annoying.
Another bug, spotlight doesn’t work once you have installed dreamboard.
It could be the jailbreak itself, but it’s certainly one of the two.

Anyway, loving my jail broken iPad. Wish the jailbreak was released sooner. Not at 11…

I waited patiently for this to be released, and i can report that everything went 100% following the step-by-step guide. Took me MAX 5 mins. Thank you tou the Dev Team.

Go to changes and hit reload, then wait about 15 minutes.
If that doesn’t work, go to your sources, click on ANY source and see if they have any files. If they don’t, try the changes tab and reload again.
If nothing works, try jailbreaking again

Fiddle wit your VPN. turn it on!!

After successful jailbreak, what must i do. I am new to this, and jailbreaking was my first step. Now when i go to iTunes and drag cracked .ipa files, it tries to sync and then says “iTunes Sync Error” App Failed to install. If anyone is kind enough to assist, it would be greatly appreciated. Well, for starters, that’s piracy, so nobody on here will want to help you, secondly, that’s because iTunes can recognise the pirated apps? Did you place them in the folder where all your apps are held as well as in itunes itself? (not in iTunes. In windows explorer)

Do a backup.
You did backup before you did the jailbreak, right?

Question : I have 2 iPhones 4s, one activated, made Jailbreak on it, everything is OK, another UN-ACTIVATED and SIM LOCK, can I make Jailbreak on it? Or an Unlock for baseband 1.0.13 ? I managed to have access to main screen bypassing activation (is on youtube) but I can do nothing about Jailbreak and Unlock.

Restore your phone, try again.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
Try different usb ports.
Try the cli method.
Try booting into safe mode and trying the exploit,

install installous it will come with app sync and you should be fine i would imagin,

in reply to my own question if you have iPad 2 5.0.1 (9A405) just backup the go straight to jailbreak, done in about 15-20 mins no problems, thanks all you guys that worked hard! kick back and have your self a celebratory beer or somthing lol

solved, I was jail breaking my iPad 2 following the steps
1.restore (factory settings) the firmware by clicking the ‘restore’ button on iTunes.
2.set up as a new iPad
3.disconnect iPad (maybe not need to)
4.open absinthe
5.connect iPad if disconnected previously.
6.click jailbreak botton on absinthe
7.click the absinthe icon on iPad
8.done!

nvrmind. ive remove the winter board.

Forgot to mention a very important thing, using iPad to set up itself as a new iPad, NOT using iTunes, so that you could use iTunes to restore from previous back up!

Can anyone verify if this will unlock the phone or if there is an unlock solution out there after the jailbreak? This is the first time I have done jailbreaking and the main reason is to unlock my phone so any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!

An unlock suitable for your basband should hopefully release in the future, jailbreaking is the important 1st step. As for it being your 1st time, you’re not alone

Also, this worked absolutely fine for me so thank a lot! I did a backup first and restored to factory settings with itunes, did the jailbreak then restored all my settings after. Not sure if its the most efficient way but I didn’t get any errors!

Someone already posted this below, but MAKE SURE you extract both the absinthe.exe file AND the data folder. I put both the data folder and the .exe in a folder on my desktop. Then run the .exe and jailbreak like normal.

Jailbroken!!! my iPad2, Oh! OH! Oh! , the words fail me to say thank you.

So i tried and tried and just kept clicking on the absinthe and would say its thing and please wait but nothing would happen. From all the ready I ended up doing a restore in the ihpone and if you backed up you loose nothing but what u had set for wallpapers and tones but all your icons and folders are there. Once that is done do the jailbreak again or even if its the first time running it. I’m sure it worked for me the second timie becasue when I did the restore then jailbreak my wifi was not setup from the restore i did so I set wifi up and made sure no lock screen was on then did the jailbreak again hit the green jailbreak icon on my ihpone and it finnaly wetn through. Oh and once u get the app make sure you get a few things

In the top ten needs or whatever the first stared catigory in cydia get activator it lets you make any botton on the phone do want you want or gestures. Second install somthing called appsync and installous these 2 in combination is an app that lets you download your ipa’s on your computer then dumb them into apps section of intunes that when u hit sync thoes apps and games will sync to you phone. Installous is also the app store black marget but the transfer part is appsync.

Guys, if your stuck with “Beginning jailbreak.. this may take a while” (i was too and i kept on repeating the process to no avail), the sure-fire solution is really to “Erase all contents and settings” (provided you did a back-up) then Activate iDevice by connecting through iTunes, then select “set up as new phone” on the iPhone when prompted, then run Absinthe again. The whole jailbreaking process should take about 5 minutes only. Then after a successful jailbreak, you can go ahead and restore from back-up. Thanks to the others posters who mentioned this in the comments section. helped me a lot. thank you

I’ve got an Ipad2 which was on 4.3.3. Did the steps mentioned above.
1. downloaded the ipsw (link above).
2. Restore to that ipsw (in itunes (windows) it’s shift click on restore, which i did – 5.0.1 got installed (I did no backup of personal data! just moved away my games and apps.
3. In this step I’ve used absinthe on the mac of my girlfriend because win version wasn’t available.
4. Click on the absinthe icon

I have a Sprint 4s and after jailbreaking it I get no service. It tries to activate but it says contact my carrier if problem persists. Is there a certain way to activate my phone again?

You need to use a program called TinyUmbrella to restore your device. I have had the same problem before. What TinyUmbrella does is tricks iTunes into thinking that your iphone is connected to the apple server but it is really connected to their server. So you have to run T.U. first before you open iTunes for a restore. There should also be some guides on how to use T.U. but its fairly simple. Good luck. I hope this helps.

Keep connecting and disconnecting your iDevice.
If that fails, reinstall iTunes V10.5 from the Apple Website.
If THAT fails, it may be a driver problem. But if iTunes picks it up, the Jailbreak program will find it as well.

What version of Windows are you on? Vista? XP? 7?
Also, have you tried the cinject method?

I have mac osx lion 10.7 with itunes 10.5 but itunes sees my iPad 2 but greenpoison sees my iPad 2 not

I have ipad 2 and I went through all this process. It installed Cydia, but after I clicked on it, it restarted and my default apps like iPod, Pictures, AppStore, and others simply dissapeared!!! First of all, thank you for your amazing efforts in the release of this tool. Here there is my case: I want to JailBrake my iPad2 which is now running the iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) since three weeks ago. My question is: why do I need to restore the iPad with the same iOS? Do I need extricly to do it? What happens if I just proceed with the JailBrake process? Is there something different in this IPSW file? Thanks for your replies.

For those with crashing issue. When you extract the zip file, extract it to the same name folder which is “absinthe-win-0.2″ and not anywhere else, there should be a data folder once you open the absinthe-win-0.2 folder. If you extract somewhere else it will crashes since the data folder is not in place. Delete all the strange folders created under your C: drive also. I had a similar problem too until I realized it.

I am replying to my own post. for those who have the same problem:
I did the jailbreak with Absinte V 0.2 on WIN first and it didn’t go through, then tried Absinte V 0.1 on MAC and again had the problem of not restarting to install Cydia. But after I tried with Absinte V 0.2 MAC, it did it easily with no problem. So try that if you have the same problem.

Hello I have a Mac os X 10.5.8 and have been trying to open absinthe after I unzip it and it does not open. I keep getting this message The application Absinthe quit unexpectedly. I keep re launching it but i have had no luck. Can some one help? this is my first time ever trying to jail break my 4s

you do not need to reinstall I did an upgrade successfully without updating the operating system and did not lose any settings. I guess this information is for those that have not upgraded to the latest version. The whole process was straight forward only with one confusing part in that the jailbreak software went back to the first screen when completed.

Worked well. Did not bother with the backup.

1. Connected mu imprisoned iPad 2
2. Pressed the jailbreak icon and let it run
3. After a while it completed its op.
4. I pressed the green skull and it downloaded more data.
5. Finally the green skull was replaced with the Cydia icon.
6. I pressed it and it did anther download and reboot.

The only confusing past was that the first app sought of reset and looked ready to run again. DO NOT Hit the start button on the PC a second time. Not needed. (It could use a job end flash screen instead of re-displaying the initial screen ready)

But overall I am happy. Now I can fall in love with my iPad 2 again. I nearly sold it to by a Sumsung. I want flash, multitasking and access to me data files.

Thank you so much for freeing my ipad 2. Jailbroken successful. Minor glitch after the jailbreak. Does anyone else have the ipad problem with the wifi crashing every 20-30 minutes of use? The signal bar completely disappeared and wifi connection terminated. Then wifi comes back on after a 15-20 second time out. Can be rather annoying when I am trying to download or stream a show. How do I fix this wifi time out?

WORKS on my iPhone 4S! So far so good. I tried every thing that was reported here that had problems, like the photos, locations, sky, etc. Everything is working for me. I just backed up and followed the instructions. It took 11 minutes. I think it depends how much staff you have in your phone. Got pdaNET (reason to jailbreak) and open siri working.

i solve the problem,,,,, i erase allthe data from the ipad in settings -> general -> restore-> clean settings and content i cofigured as a new ipad after i did the jailbreak with absinthe and after restore my data with itunes

Blank or white Icons will correct themselves after you restart the Springboard.
Search ‘respring’ in Cydia for the app. Easy app to use, to respring your iphone

Springboard is… lets say you PC desktop screen…It’s what you see and where you launch your apps from.

Ive downloaded Absinthe version 0.3 and it has detected my ipad 2, when I click jailbreak it seems to begin the process but is stopped a tiny bit and there is no ‘restore in progress’ on the ipad screen.

I had the same problem when jailbreaking my iPad 2 wifi+3G. All i did was to restart the jailbreak process over again. After two failed tries the third one worked. Just keep trying.

While jailbreaking my iPad 2 I ran into a few problems. The absinthe program ran fine and installed the absinthe icon onto my iPad. I followed the instructions and clicked on the icon and it said “absinthe is setting things up, please stand by”. Well it never worked. I repeated these steps 3 times with no success. So heres how to fix it.

1. Back up your device via iTunes.
2. From the iPad delete all data.
3. From iTunes set up iPad as new device.
4. When complete, run absinthe jailbreak again.
5. Follow instructions and click on absinthe icon on iPad.
6. Cydia will then install and replace absinthe icon.
7. Restore iPad using previous backup.

Absinthe/Cydia install should take only a few minutes total.

I tried both Absinthe version 1 & 2 on MAC, everything works fine but iMessage is now Text Message. Anyone having the same issue?

if you have a “Absithe is setting….blah blah blah” bug:
after a file backup, you can just do “Reset settings and delete data” on your device. Without doing that from iTunes. Worked for me anyway.

I installed Cydia on my 4S so then I could unlock it. Everything’s fine until I get to add the ultrasn0w source. After downloading all the files, I get back to the sources screen and Ultrasn0w URL doesn’t show. Anybody know what’s happening?

I had the same error, make sure the data folder is extracted to the same folder as Absinthe. that fixed it for me.

Just JB’d my 4S, and had the absinthe.exe crash. I then read ROBF below and he’s right on point. Putting the Absinthe Jailbreak icon back in the folder with its data folder fixed the problem. I wonder if my neat housekeeping (icons in separate location) has also been the cause of my Redsn0w crashes of late? Will try it and see. Thanks, ROBF!

In Cydia, click on CHANGES than click on REFRESH at the top left hand corner of the screen. This helped me.

Just because you jailbreak it , it doesn mean that you can put any sim, you still have to unlock it with a cdma tool so that it accepts different sims..

There is different apps… but ive tried them recently and none of them work…examples…Dessid,wepgen,dlssid,aircrack and wep pro….none of them work…. youd be better off hacking from a PC then just use the password you get….I’d recomend using a brute force password cracker its alot faster than any other method… u should look into it…

Download tinyumberella and itwill have an option to fix the 100x bootloop and it should fix it, if not then u probably have a tethered jailbreak , then u are gonna have to start from scratch if u have untethered …next time u go to cydia make sure you get “substrate safe mode”!!!

Thats OK, then you can try another version of Absinthe , I’ve made Jailbreak on mine with 0.1 for MAC and another 2 , one with 0.1 for win and second with 0.3 for win. You have to close iTunes, and try with different version of Absinthe. If that doesn’t work, try it with another cable too. But never disconnect phone from computer after you close iTunes because it is possible that iTunes starts again when you connect the phone. Good look and keep us informed!

After I install the 5.0.1 jail break on my ipad 2 under windows xp I get a the Absinthe Icon and the absinthe.exe program running on my desktop computer says it’s almost done. I click on Absinthe on my Ipad and then it says waiting. Then a button pops up that says click jailbreak. I click it and it gives me a url error. I leave Absinthe and go into settings. I try to turn on the VPN and it gives an error and the ipad does not reset. Has anyone figured out how to get around this? I see tons of people have this error.

This is due to USB ports on computers not having a high enough ampage..
I’m not sure of the exact numbers, but the ipad requires 2.1amps, and USB only puts out 0.5amps…
The ipad will still charge, just slowly.

Absinthe installer stops responding and closes it. After running Absinthe installer again offers a “quick back up fix” the l try to jailbreak again and does the whole thing again. l even tried in Windows safe mode. Any thoughts? should l start by putting my device in DFU mode?

I have an iPhone 4S running OS 5.0.1 and I’ve used Absinthe to jailbreak and untethered with Corona. Everytime I try and run/intall UltraSn0w I get these error messages “subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 255″ and “Sub-process/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)”. I’ve also removed UltraSn0w and reinstalled several times but keep getting these error messages. I’d appreciate any help/advise anyone can give me.

Hey i had the same problem but thats because i skipped a step from the instructions. Make sure you download the IOS 5.0.1 and restore your ipad from that, To do that save the IOS 5.0.1 to your desktop and plug your ipad in and open itunes, then hold the shift key and click restore and locate the IOS 5.0.1 you have just saved to the desktop. After it has fully restored unplug it open up Absinthe and try again, It took about 40 secs to complete

After the jailbreak, my volume, freezes, for the ringer. If I change, it in the settings, it just reverts back. It only, occurs after cydia loads, the sources. For example, whatever the volume, for the ringer was left at, (before cydia loads-up everything), is where it remains.

iPad 2 is stuck on boot screen after trying to install PKGbackup in Cydia… Any suggestions on how to get past the boot screen?

I am having the same issue… Works fine for a while, then does as you explain. Apps open up to only the upper left 1/4 of the screen and are not functional as the screen does not let you touch anything other than the top left 1/4 of the app.

I thought this was something to do with some of the tweaks I installed. So I restored my phone with iTunes, re-jailbroke it, and installed nothing other than SBSettings. After one full day, of working fine, it did it again.

iPhones require 5 volts so your standard Windows PC USB will charge fine. However, iPads require 10 volts and will not charge from a Windows PC. I have heard that some models of Macs have a a 10 volt USB, but I’m not sure which ones. While plugged into a Windows PC USB iPad will run off the USB power and not use onboard battery.

Hey there are two different types of jailbreak, the tethered and the untethered. You might have downloaded the tethered because every time you reboot the ipad, you have to jailbreak it again, but with the untethered jailbreak, you don’t have to re jailbreak the iPad! Hope this helps

GreenPois0n Absinthe only support ios 5.0 and 5.0.1 for iphone 4S and 5.0.1 for ipad 2

Hey i have problem with restoring the iphone 4s 5.0.0 i downloaded on this site. I get message that Iphone cant be restored, An unknown error occurred (3194). Dont know what to do as it says here that i need to restore first.

Hello, guys. Maybe You could help me.
In this jailbreak I found that for iPhone 4 at-commands worked fine, but for 4S at-commands aren’t work. Why? Is it because of 4S and Apple block or is it because jailbreak is not perfect? OpenSSH is installed and would like to perform at-commands from my PC e.g. making calls. Have anybody tried?

Please specify what is current sw in your iPhone4S? If you have upgraded to iOS 5.1 then it’s impossible to revert back to iOS 5.0.0

Hi, it seems to me it does not work AFTER the iOS 5.1 release:-(. I am not able to restore iPad 2 running on 5.0.1. with iTunes and that is (probably) why the Absinthe does not finish (VPN does not start even after manual switch from Settings). any ideas? THX Tom

i had this problem too. u should install itunes. and make sure itunes detect your ipad. then the jailbreak button should be available to press

If its factory unlocked then you can use it anywhere in the world as I am not sure if SIM unlock is available for 4S… Enjoy your piece of gem in India and you better JB it coz without JB iPhone is just a phone

IOS 5.1 Official JB is yet to be announced officially… Hav patience and explore your 4S till then… Keep your fingers crossed…

What if iphone 4s already jailbreked (tethered mode) How I can jailbreak it to untethered mode? Tried to restore, but 3194 error displayed. I have iOS 5.0.1 sw. Anyone faced this problem?

you go over it with the untethered software, just do not re-install cydia :0)
