In an interview hosted by Forbes’ Eric Savitz , Microsoft’s chief strategy and research officer Craig Mundie explained that Apple’s Siri is nothing special and that Microsoft has had the same voice capabilities for over a year with its TellMe voice recognition service.
He said that Siri’s capabilities is not what is infatuating iPhone 4S users, but what the iPhone can do with it and Siri’s success owes back to the marketing. Obviously Mundie is so out of touch with the technology he is talking about to tell the difference.
People are infatuated with Apple announcing it. It’s good marketing, but at least as the technological capability you could argue that Microsoft has had a similar capability in Windows Phones for more than a year, since Windows Phone 7 was introduced.
So ,to test what Mundie said, a video was made testing the performance of Microsoft’s TellMe service in juxtaposition to that of Apple’s Siri. I think the video speaks for itself.
