Comex, the creator of JailbreakMe, left the jailbreak scene when he was offered an internship by Apple. His departure was disappointing for the jailbreak community. The latest news suggests he is no longer with Apple. Read on for more details.
Before heading over to the main news, let’s talk a little about his creation. He invented JailbreakMe, a simple way of achieving a complex jailbreak, without the need to be tethered, and using the vulnerabilities of using Mobile Safari within the device. It just required the vesting of a website, and the jailbreak was achieved easily.
The news comes from his Twitter account, where he informed that he has left Apple. There was no reason given as to why such a decision was made. :
So… no point in delaying, as of last week, after about a year, I’m no longer associated with Apple.
The tweet doesn’t give any hint that he is returning to the jailbreak scene. It’s just a departure from the workplace where he used to work before. He also stated that it was related to him forgetting to reply to an e-mail by Apple, which contained an offer of continuing his employment as a remote based intern. It looks like Apple rejects offers quickly if they’re not attened to.
As for why? Because I forgot to reply to an email.
The interview conducted by Forbes of Comex informed it was something more than just replying to an e-mail. However, he didn’t give out any further details.
Apple’s loss was supposed to be good news for the jailbreak community. However, he hasn’t made any intentions of returning, and said that he will concentrate on his studies at Brown University. We expect to hear more on this in the upcoming days. Feel free to leave comments.
