Download Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 To Fix iBooks DRM Issues With iOS 5.0.1

by Bilal Hameed on January 31, 2012

Some users were facing issues with DRM protected books on iBooks after they have had jailbreaked their iPhone or iPads with Corona. The problem was that images and text were being displayed incorrectly in the DRM protected books. The situation was significant and captured the attention of the jailbreak dream team. It was announced that the jailbreak team is working on Corona 1.0.6 to fix this specific issue. Although Corona 1.0-6 is not available yet, the issue has been solved in the newly updated version of Redsn0w for both Mac OS X and Windows.

Redsn0w 0.9.10b5

Users who have already jailbroken their iOS devices with RedSn0w would only have to re-run RedSn0w. However, they would have to make sure that they uncheck the “install Cydia” option. For users who have not jailbroken their iOS devices, you can do so by following our jailbreak guide here. However, you would have to make sure that you jailbreak your device using Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 for Windows or Mac.

Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 for Windows can be downloaded , whereas the Mac version can be downloaded from .

The jailbreak dream team has managed to resolve the iBooks issue by employing a similar technique which was previously used by JailbreakMe creator Comex to fix these issues for iOS 4. The technique bypasses the device checks implemented by Apple to find out if a device is jailbroken or not. If the device check finds out that the iPhone or iPad is jailbroken the display of certain text and images gets broken. By bypassing these checks, the images and text are displayed normally.

So, if I’ve jailbroken my iPad 2 with absinthe, I should still use this? And if I’ve already jailbroken my iPhone before, this will work over that?

Just making sure before I do anything. . .

I reran this over the b3 jailbreak. I unchecked Cydia, but got this:

I get Mounting rootfs as read-only… ERROR!
AppleBCMLWLANCore:handleIOKitBusyWatchdogTimeout():Error, no successful firmware download after 60000 ms!! Giving up…

    Now, it’s stuck.

Ok, I rebooted holding the power and home button until it restarted. Then I used Redsn0w, DFU mode, went into Extras and did a Tethered Boot and I think it went through, iBooks opens without the iBooks package from Cydia. I’ll see how this goes…Thanks.

    Hi,
I am trying to jailbreak my ipad2 using reds0w. One question for experts…. If I jailbreak my iPad, do I lose all my email account and settings? I currently can read my company’s email using my iPad, and I was wondering whether I lose all my email settings and accounts if I jail break my iPad. Please let me know.

No it does not ! Jailbreaking ONLY installs cydia and its packages. Jailbreaking will never erase anything personal that you have on your device. I’ve jalbroken my iPad 1 and all of my songs,Photos, and videos are STILL there. and it will not delete your email setting or accounts. Maybe youll have to sign your email again but otherwisse it does not mess with any other stuff

No, use absinthe ONLY besides you cant jailbreak with the new redsn0ws that are out. just absinthe. You can re-jailbreak you iPhone depending on what modedl and version it is. if its A4 and below its Redsn0w ONLY and if its A5 and higher you jailbreak with Absinthe
