Facebook Plans To Bring Video Calling In Messenger App On iPhone (REPORT)

by Adeel Qayum on December 6, 2011

Facebook added a new Skype video calling feature that allowed Facebook friends to make free video calls from their computers. And after expecting the social network to bring the service to mobile space after it was introduced this summer, we have just heard that is is testing a new Messenger app that has the ability to make video calls.

, the Italian blog that covers the iOS devices, has the latest news. They reported that Facebook just seeded a new version of its popular Messenger to the developers. Included in the update is the video calling feature that is based on Skype technology.

Now the users can make calls to anyone from their friends list and the recipient has the option of accepting or declining the call. The basic design can change till the time it is released. It looks really simple as of now.

Facebook has almost over 700 subscribers which is thrice the size of Apple’s iTunes account holders. As this could pose a big threat to FacTime as has to iMessage. So Apple might want to keep a close eye on this project.

Will you use this video calling feature when it arrives?
