IMPORTANT: Save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH Blobs Right Now For Future Jailbreak

Potential jailbreakers should save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs right now even they didn’t update to the iOS 5.0.1 firmware. That will be very important for all jailbreakers so that they can get their untethered jailbreak.

As you’re aware, pod2g released his untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1 for all A4 devices and he’ll release it for A5 devices as early as next week. That will allow everyone who has an iOS device to get untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1.

This post is very important for all iOS devices’ users, especially for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users since they won’t even get a tethered jailbreak on next iOS release, most probably iOS 5.0.2.

For A4 devices, there will be for sure tethered jailbreak on all future iOS releases based on limera1n’s exploit. But you know, tethered jailbreak sucks!

So what’s the point of saving iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs? Well, as everyone know, Apple will release iOS 5.0.2 in the next few days to kill pod2g’s jailbreak exploit and prevent iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak again. So in case that happens (and it will), you must have iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs saved to be able to downgrade back (or update) to iOS 5.0.1 which is the only firmware after iOS 4.3.3 that can get untethered jailbreak.

So, now, you can use the newly released TinyUmbrella tool from which allows you to save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs for all devices including the iPhone 4S second firmware build (9A406).

Ok… Is running fine… First you have to uncheck at the advanced section “set hosts to cydia…” and ” request shsh from cydia” and will work as a whistle!!!

Cydia (1.1.1 onwards) automatically caches the SHSH blobs( iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)). Don’t have to do anything.

Just download this latest Tinyumbrella, open it than connect your Iphone 4s and it should appear in TU that iphone 4s has been connected click on it than goto advanced un-check these boxes which have anything related to Cydia (must be 2 boxes ) because 4s isn’t jailbroken yet and we don’t have Cydia. After un-checking those boxes then click on save SHSH and it should than save you SHSH blobs to a folder which can also be found in Advanced tab, I have changed my directory to C:UsersMy usernameDesktop.shsh because it’s alot easy for me to find my blobs…

You can save all the blobs you want on your a4 and a5′s but it won’t do you any good. You need the apt ticket that ifaith pulls for any downgrade or restore to work. Shsh blobs for 5.0 and up are useless for now. Unfortunately ifaith does not work on iPad 2 or iPhone 4s

I have an iPad 2 on 4.3.3 (jailbroken). What do I do? Do I need to upgrade to 5.0.1 now or never have an iOS 5 untethered jailbreak?

I also have a few other devices: two jailbroken “iPhone 4″s (s plural, not “4s”) on 4.0, and iPad 2 on 5.0.1 (my wife’s). Do I need to do anything with these devices?

Upgrade your Iphone 4′s to 5.0.1 and just do the untethered jailbreak that is already released. Why should you miss out on the features of IOS 5? You’ll have to redownload all your tweaks, but it’s worth it.

Your ipad won’t be able to be jailbroken if you don’t upgrade to 5.0.1. You can wait until the JB is released, but by then 5.0.2 might be out and you’ll miss the JB all together. The question is, can you live a week or two without your JB on your iPad?

If you save your SHSH’s using TinyUmbrella, you should be able to upgrade to 5.0.1 even if Apple isn’t signing the firmware anymore.That way you can keep your jailbreak and not have to do without. Pod2G SAYS it should be done soon, but better safe than sorry, you never know what can happen.

Saving the blobs won’t mean anything with an apt ticket to use the blobs.

This may be a stupid question (but I just downloaded Tiny Umbrella to save the iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs) but how do you use the Tiny Umbrella program to do that? A step-by-step would help! Thanks to whoever replys.

I have an iPad 2 3G 5.0.1 (9A405), and I cannot have it saved and it says like this below:

Am I missing something here? I have done the check and un-check thing, but it just won’t save.

The post makes it seem as though you can save you 5.0.1 blobs even if you are not at that version?
Have an iPad 2 iOS 5.0 and not upgrading to 5.0.1 cause this site told me not to do so.

Anyone having problems, update to latest java version, restart pc, then open TU, in advanced section uncheck “set hosts to cydia on exit”, & “Request SHSH from Cydia”, after thats done, plug in iphone and save SHSH, should work..

Of course I have the latest java installed, and Internet connection has not been changed. that’s why I could post something here.:) Previously I have already saved 4.3.4-4.3.5, 5.0-5.0b1-7… at least that’s what I saw in the TU General display for my iPad 2 3G.

Maybe I should wait until the JB shows up and save from Cydia or iSHSHit or whatever…:-P

I was from 4.3.3 before having to upgrade to 5.0 because of some Cydia app that broke my JB structure and had me stuck in the long-wait Apple logo startup… and then I am forced to upgrade to 5.0.1 after this good announcement of possible untethered JB.:)

I did the update to 5.0.1.

To save the SHSH just do these steps:
1. Connect your device
2. Run TinyUmbrella (current version: v5.10.04), can be downloaded in post above
3. Click on your device on the left side
4. Click on the tab called ” Advanced ”
5. Uncheck ” Set hosts to Cydia on Exit (If you need a clean restore from Apple uncheck this box) ”
6. Uncheck ” Request SHSH From Cydia ”
7. Click on the tab called “Log”
8. Click in the right top corner on ” Save SHSH ”
9. Now you will see that the SHSH files are found and cached

I did it with an iPad 2 and I think that you can not do anything wrong, the program will only read and make a copy of some files as I understand everything well.
It worked well for me by doing all these steps .

And you connected it with the USB cable? Is it visible in in iTunes? Make sure your phone is turnde on.

Only the firmware, they mentioned in the text that even the 9A406 will be jailbroken, so I think that the 9A405 will surely also be jailbroken.

I just downloaded iSHSHit from Cydia. VERY, VERY easy. It let me save my SHSH blobs to Cydia and email them to myself. Now I have them incase I need them.

You should never update fw when you require an unlock. If you do you should upgrade to preserve baseband.

ifaith will save an shsh blob of what is currently on the phone weather apple is still signing it or not. But ifaith will not work for A5 devices. So if you have an iphone 4 still on 4.X you dont have to worry about using tinyumbrella, ifaith will get the shsh of the phones current firmware.

I’ve just bought a second hand iPad 2, it has ios 4.3.3. I’ve just run TU and it seems to have retrieved my 5.0.1 shsh blobs. Does that mean I can keep my jailbroken 4.3.3 for now and will still be able to “downgrade” to 5.0.1 later, or should I upgrade to 5.0.1 and grab the shsh blobs again?

I guess my question is: can you confirm that TU is able to retrieve the correct 5.0.1 shsh blobs even from my 4.3.3 ipad?

For those that can’t find their devices with tiny-umbrella, enter the ECID manually, works like a sharm.
My iPad 2 is running 4.3.5, I saved the SHSH-blobs for 5.0.1, is it safe to update to 5.0.1 or may this screw with we exploit they are going to use for jailbreaking?

Weird but I have shsh for all ios 4 versions as well as 5.1 but 5.0.1 is missing from the Cydia main screen. Any ideas where I can find my SHSH for 5.0.1? I reckon since 5.1 SHSH is saved, 5.0.1 should be available on Cydia?

hello, my ipad2, 3g has version 5.1, it must be 5.0.1, i use tinyumbrella 5.10.09 to save SHSH on my computer, there is problem bc i can’t use “request SHSH from Cydia” the program will not save SHSH file. if i not labeled this the file will be saved but the main problem is when i would like to opet it whit ifaith v1.4.2 it write that this file is corrently not supported. please help me.
