I know this is a tethered JB, so if you reboot your device you will have to re-boot it with i-booty to get JB again. If you dont use i-booy, will the actual ios 5 beta still work on the phone without being jailbroken?

was having issues with my silent switch, so i couldn’t put my phone on silent, but after updating to iOS 5 i found the new assistive touch feature really good as it lets u put ur phone on silent without using the switch.I soon realised that with that feature switched on my notification center was very reluctant tho open so now i only turn it on to put my phone on silent when i need to then i switch it off after.

I had this problem as well. You need to uninstall EVERYTHING related to Apple. You can find what you need to remove here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925

Then download CCleaner and run a registry fix. Once that is done, restart your computer. Install the iTunes Beta again and that should work!

iTunes has a dialog open that can’t be closed:
“iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.”

I am trying to shift+restore to install ios 5 but I can’t close the dialog box. The only thing I can do is end iTunes through task manager. Help?

iPhon3 4 4.3.5. Got an error 1600 the first time I tried the restore. Unplugged my phone and closed and reopened itunes. Went without a hitch the second time. Great tutorial and can’t believe I didn’t do this soon. Loving it.

Worked all fine, got around to the redsn0w part, cydia worked.
Turned it off and back on again and all my old .app icons (messages, phone etc.) were gone..

First time I tried I everything seemed to be fine building the ispw, and getting phone into dfu mode. But when trying to restore with the snowbreeze ispw itunes would hang and give me error 1600 saying iphone could not be restored. Tried 5 different times and same thing happened. I put phone in dfu once more and unplugged phone from usb and computer, shut down itunes and recontected everything using a different usb port. FINALLY was able to restore to ios 5 beta 7. Hope this helps anyone having problems.

Are you using ibooty after install or before?

Try closing iTunes and disconnecting idevice and then trying using a different usb port. Same thing was happening to me but this seemed to work. Good luck.

For some reason a good one though. my Cydia doesn’t work but when I reboot it starts fine without using ibooty. Thats a good thing though.

that happend to me and i use redsn0w to get cydia to work again and it did … just run redsn0w as “just boot as tethered right now” and cydia will work at least it did for me

Also had the error 1600.. retried a bunch of times and switched ports and rebooted and re-did the entire IPSW build and finally got it to work.

I also had a weird issue where it would tell me that the iphone was in recovery mode (like it should be) and I need to restore it and to click OK, but the OK button would never click. Weird. Happened probably 6 or 7 times.

Since the downgrade is not hard to do, you should Just install a clean copy of iOS and you´re good to go.

You have to stop the tss server and change the host file in /windows/system32/drivers/etc with the original content.

So does this mean its not completely jailbroken at this time? If so Ill leave it like this for a couple of weeks until untethered is released.

I need urgent help! Freaking out here.
I did all this, it essentially worked.
Then I installed BackBoard from Cydia.
After doing so, I tried installing a theme and it just messed everything up.
Now, no matter what I do, it shows the iTunes logo and a USB cable. I’ve tried everything I can think of. When ever I try restore as well, it gives me error code 1604.

I am on 4.2.8 jailbroken. do i need to update to 4.2.10 through itunes and be unjailbroken for this to work? I have done the procedure but the phone does not activate without the original SIM and requires ibooty and setup in every restart. AT&T iphone4 bought in the states operating in Europe, as I do not have the at&t card the phone is useless.

You can restore through itunes till tonight as iOS 5 has not been reveiled yet! It will install iOS 4.3.5 on your iphone but this works till tonight only! If you do it tomorrow it will install iOS 5 on your iPhone!

sounds to me like your not using the redsn0w to launch in teether mode. it does’t open in an apple mode. if you see that when your restarting you have now figured out that its a TEATHERED jailbreak. you have to do it every time your restart your phone.
