iOS 4.3.5 users, this post is for you. Everyone is currently searching for method either to downgrade latest Apple’s firmware, iOS 4.3.5, to older iOS without having SHSH blobs saved or to jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 untethered. Well, you shouldn’t get your hopes up as you won’t get either of them.
Apple released iOS 4.3.5 few weeks ago merely 10 days after Apple pushed iOS 4.3.4 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 4.3.5 just brings a security fix which can be achieved by iSSLFix tweak available in Cydia for free. iOS 4.3.4 also fixes the discovered PDF based exploit by Comex to jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3. You don’t need to update to iOS 4.3.4 as well, as you can install PDF Patcher 2 from Cydia to fix this exploit without losing jailbreak.
iOS 4.3.5 untethered jailbreak is not currently available and will not be available as the iPhone Dev Team may be saving his untethered jailbreak for the iOS 5 public launch which is expected in less than 30 days.
iPhone users updated to iOS 4.3.5 or iOS 4.3.4 by mistake so those who don’t have saved SHSH blobs of older firmwares are really stuck on the current iOS. You won’t be able to jailbreak 4.3.5 untethered or downgrade 4.3.5 without SHSH blobs.
iPad 2 users can’t get even tethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.5. You must downgrade to iOS 4.3.3 to get an untethered jailbreak.
The method to downgrade iOS 4.3.5 without SHSH blobs discovered by other blogs is confirmed to be not working. The word comes from iH8sn0w on his account:
Note: You can’t downgrade to an iOS that you don’t have SHSH blobs for and expect to get an untethered boot. Blogs are claiming they found a way. Well… the bootrom explicitly looks for SHSH blobs upon boot. So if they aren’t there… it’ll just go into a DFU loop. When you can write to read-only memory. Let me know. Don’t waste your time.
The reason why iOS 4.3.5 untethered jailbreak will never be possible is that why the hackers should burn an exploit while the iOS 5 is less than 30 days away from now. iOS 5 is expected to launch on September 30th and we all know that iOS 5 has been already tethered jailbroken. So when iOS 5 publicly launched, you may get untethered iOS 5 jailbreak sooner than later.
So you won’t be able to jailbreak 4.3.5 untethered but you can do that only tethered. You can use the latest version of Redsn0w to jailbreak 4.3.5 tethered. Just head over the iPhone Dev Team blog and download the latest Redsn0w then give it a jailbreak.
For those who don’t know what’s a tethered jailbreak, it’s a jailbreak in which you’ll always need your computer with you. When your iPhone is rebooted, you’ll need to tethered boot option in order to turn on the device.
Those who stuck on iOS 4.3.5, you can try upgrading to the latest beta of iOS 5 without having a developer account or registered UDID, method posted here.
