Pod2G Jailbreaks His iPhone 4 Untethered On iOS 5.1

This could be the news you all were waiting for, yes we’re successfully in iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreaking testing phase. Pod2G. who has been actively working on iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak has updated us all with a good news. Hacker has successfully jailbreaked his iPhone 4 untethered on iOS 5.1. This is without any doubt a good news for everyone who is waiting for iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak specially iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners. As we’ve mentioned it in our previous post that iOS 5.21 already has a tethered jailbreak for non A5 devices but most new iPhone and iPad users are getting their iOS device on Apple’s latest iOS 5.1 out of the box.

Heya! My iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 is now untethered :-)

The announcement was made in a Twitter update earlier in which Pod2G confirmed that his iPhone 4 is now successfully running iOS 5.1 with an untethered jailbreak. It is also worth noting that Pod2g just mentioned about iPhone 4 whihc is not an A5 device and it already has a tethered jailbreak which indicates that we’re in initial phase on iOS 5.1 untethered testing. It would be wrong to comment about the release date of this untethered jailbreak right now because testing phase can take a lot of time. The same testing phase took weeks when an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was release in December/January for all iOS devices.

It is also important to keep in mind that testing can take much longer when it comes to A5 and A5X devices because they have completely changed internals and we don’t have a bootrom level exploit for A5 and 5X chips. Posixninja of Chronic Dev team has already made it clear that this jailbreak would be one of its kind, this jailbreak would utilize more exploit than any jailbreak ever released in the history.

iPhone-Dev team who also demoed their jailbreak on iPad 3 just when it was released are silent and we assume that just like last time iPhone-Dev team would work in collaboration with other major renowned hackers and create a dream team once again to release an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.

There’s no official word on the release of this jailbreak but we can say that it’s not that far now.

    There is no official jailbreak yet – I am assuming you did not read the article… If you did, you would know that they are still working on testing the jailbreak, and they will likely need to work on how it is to be packaged for release once completed. I would be nice if people read the articles before posting. Once the jailbreak is finished and released you along with everyone else will know where to get it.
