Apple has posted a user guide for the 5th generation iPod touch on iBooks today that point towards the fact that a retail launch is coming sooner than planned. The time Apple gave for shipping was around October for its pre-orders.

However, word has just gotten in that Apple will be shipping orders of the 5th generation iPod touch as well as the new iPod nano around next week. The expected date of delivery was the 15th of October. However, users have received shipping notices and not just in the United States but users from other countries have received them as well. An Australian reader has shown an expected delivery date of 15th on his shipping notice whereas the iPod Nano is still being in the process of being prepared for shipment.
News is that Apple has started shipping orders for the 30 pin to lightning connector adapter and that’s something thing to be happy about!
There are more reports that Apple has started selling the new iPOd touch and iPod nano at some retail outlets.
Macotakara has uploaded some videos for the new iPods, that shoe the 5th generation iPod Touch along with the new EarPods (with audio controls & mic). The earphones that come with the new nano do not have the audio controls but they still come with the new EarPods.
