im a 3gs ipad bb user, i did the trick and the unlock work fine, but when i re enabled the location services, all networks keep disconnecting / connecting frequently , any help?
ps:i jailbreaked it by using sno0wbreze not redsnow if that matters, and i have unthreaded jailbreak coz im old boot rom , also i noticed that after installing ultrasn0w the safari icon become white !

When you upgrade to IOS 5, you have to be ENSURE, that your NOT upgrading the baseband!

I had the same issue. You need to update to ipad baseband again with redsn0w.

I had a iphone 3gs on software version 3.1.3. It was a locked phone purchased from apple store and I unlocked it successfully with the procedures available on internet. Used it for about an year with no problem. Recently I used the itunes to upgrade it to the latest software version 5.0. Now when i connect it to the itunes it shows that no SIM detected ( i am not using any SIM as I don;t have the compatible SIM) and it stucks on ‘Activation Failed’ screen. Hello, I have a 3gs (old bottom) at iPad BB. What I need to do is to create a custom ipsw on redsnow (to preserve baseband) then dfu, then update through iTunes with the new NO_BB ipsw created by redsnow right? Then jailbreak with redsnow, and install ultrasnow, right?
Will I need a compatible sim in order to go through the activation? Or It will work with my non-official sim? thanks

ok guys… I’ve installed the normal firmware first and it didnt work…. then I restored to the custom firmware by sn0wbreeze and did like it says about disabling the push and location… then I installed the ultrasn0w and i still get no signal!!

so… is my BB damaged already cause first I did instal normal firmware even thou I’ve put a custom one on top of it??

I’ve tried to reinstal the iPAD bb but in crashed Error, no successful firmware download after 60000 ms! giving up…

Looks like there is a substrate Cydia update that just came out. If you can update that then UltraSn0w will work properly. Just updated mine installed UltraSn0w and all works now.

How does one ‘reflash’ the 6.15 baseband using ultrasn0w on a mac. I have redsn0w 0.9.95b. Any help please would be nice. I’ve lost my unlock capabilities. I’ve also disabled location and push services. Any ideas?

Almost at the top of the list in settings. I turned everything back on. Signal drops sometimes.. but it’s working better than when I first got it up and running. This is for the birds. Getting HTC Windows!! Woot woot!

2. Jailbreak then DFU mode
3. It will ask for IPSW and it will show the options to upgrade to ipad baseband and other. Good luck

This video and these instructions are great, but they are not actually accurate. I followed the instructions perfectly, and preserved by baseband to 01.59.00. I am now running iOS 5, but Cydia did NOT install, and no matter what I try it will not install. I wish somebody would post some more accurate instructions, instead of just saying “you need to ‘just boot’ tethered” – because this does not help.

sounds like you didnt jailbreak it. after you installed ios5 with baseband preservation, you can jailbreak it via redsn0w (instead of clicking on extra choose jailbreak)

Waiting for some kind of fix/update. 3gs bb 6.15 users beware. Enabling location services will make your connections turn off and on, over and over. (I don’t mean during the setup.. I mean after all is said and done)

I did it with my 3gs with ipad baseband. First restore stock IPSW then reflash the baseband while jailbreaking. it will work. Mine works fine except for the location service thing.

I find that since i’ve upgraded to IOS 5 — any time i try to access an app that uses location services – wifi/3gs always disconnects and goes into searching mode then reconnects… Is this a problem with ultrasnow incompatibility? this never happened to be on 4.3.3 ios, and using 6.15.00 modem firmware… Never used a stock ipsw… how do i fix this issue?

GPS isn’t broken on all 3GS 6.15 bb devices. Mine worked great. Still does but the signal drops and calls drop. I can still use google maps.

Maybe re-do the installation of the custom IPSW. When installing Cydia with Redsnow, install the ipad baseband. This will re-flash the BB and may get everyting working.

The reflash is not done in ultrasnow but with redsnow when installing Cydia. Be sure to install a custom IPSW beforehand.

Please support 05.14.02 as we have blobs for upto iOS 4.1 only. we can downgrade with tinyumbrella and then upgrade using redsn0w 0.9.9b5 without baseband upgrade.

so i did unlock this via sn0wbreeze and hacktivation it all worked magically, i used the phone for about 12 minutes, then i saw black screen tried to turn on and it didn’t. realized my 3gs is now stuck in a recovery loop. nothing will get it out, recboot tiny umbrella, nothing.. any suggestions? iphone 3gs 6.15.00 bb

I have a 3gs that i unlocked on 4.2.1 with ultrasnow. I then upgraded using the stock iOS 5.0 (not realizing that Im not supposed to do so). I got stuck during the activation of iOS 5 and downgraded back to 4.2.1. Only now it wont unlock for me on 4.2.1. Im pretty sure it was on baseband 6.15.00 before I upgraded to 5.0 and it is still at 6.15.00. What can I do? I read above about something to do with flashing the baseband with ipad software… could someone please provide me instuctions on how to fix this on either 4.2.1 or 5.0. Thank you so much in advance

Im pretty sure you use Redsn0w to do so.
Click extas in redsnow then ‘custom IPSW’ . select the stock ipsw. Redsnow will make a custom ipsw for you. then you click ‘pwned dfu’ and follow the instructions to put your iphone into pwned dfu mode.
go to itunes after this and hold shift if your a pc or option if your a mac and click restore. select the custom ipsw (which should be in downloads or wherever redsnow said it put it). your phone will restore using the custom ipsw

through redsn0w_win_0.9.9b4, press jailbreak then mark on (install cydia, ipad BB, deactivate)
and make sure that you removed any antivirus or firewalls because they stop the process, it will take with you maximum 30 min. and welcome to the IOS 5 world after that
but 4 sure forget the GPS with BB 6.15.00 moreover u have to disable the location services from the beginning and may be not activating it again as it made my network disconnected

strangely after unlock, the ios5 doesn’t ask for my PIN (password) of my SIM card. I put the phone in Airplane mode, then turn this off and ios recognized my SIM card and then I put my PIN number but i still don’t have services or signal.

After countless tries and searches for information for the last three days to have Vodafone sim-card not “searching”, (base band 6.15) I followed your instructions and am so delighted to be able to use the phone. I used redsn0w 0.9.9b6 for Windows downloaded today.
However, I have found that on my first attempt I selected all options given above it did not jailbreak the 3gs.
On my second attempt I did Not select “de-activate” and it worked.
It is of course still a tethered jailbreak for ios 5

now works! I re-flash my iPad baseband again with redsn0w 0.9.9b6 and and now ios5 find my network. but I still have network problem (unstable) ONLY if I use Location Services in ios5. although this version has been done to correct it.

Check your baseband through:

Settings>General>About>Modem Firmware.

Of course it’s stuck at the apple logo! Turn your iPhone off, go to redsn0w and in Extras, select “Just Boot Tethered”. Follow the on-screen steps and you should be just fine.

If someone can help me here. I have 3GS & I have upgraded to IOS 5 & jailbreaked it..The problem is i am using a different carrier sim and hence i am not able to activate my home..So i am not able to go further and check if its jailbreaked successfully & i am not able to unlock the phone also as i am not able to access Cydia..It would be great if some one can suggest me a turn around here to unlock the phone!!

OK I finally got it back alive. It was indeed a hardware problem, so I opened it, disconnected the battery for an hour, then Fixed the Recovery Mode with Redsn0w, ran iRecovery to set the auto-boot to true and then restored it with the right ipsw. thanks to all for your help and messages. Cheers !

The jailbreak worked for me, I have an old bootroom so I don;t need a tethered boot. But this unlock sucks. I’m not even sure if they have even tried this shit.

Just installed on iPhone 4 and then tried to unlock phone. Upon trying the tethered reboot, the phone is now stuck displaying the Apple logo. I can’t seem to get past this. I’ve powered off and on and still have the Apple logo. Moving from SF to Rome tomorrow and need to unlock my phone so that I can use it in Italy. went back pressed jailbreak
and click flash ipad baseband WITH OUT INSTALL CYDIA
let it do its thing AND UUUUUUUUURIKA!!!!!!!!!! unlocked

i had previosly done every thing here so you don’t need to restor or do any thing just redo the ipad baseband and it’ll work!!!

I just jailbroke my iphone 3gs (6.15 BB) phone and then unlocked it using Ultrasn0w. Now after rebooting it did detect my sim card, but still no signal. When i am changing the network selection to manual, I get an error saying unable to load network list. Can you please help me?

MAKE SURE that you click the install “ipad baseband” during the redsn0w jailbreak. if you fail to do so the first time, sipmly re-run the redsn0w jailbreak, click the install ipad baseband, unclick install cydia(if you have jailbroken the first time[if this is your first time, DO NOT UNCHECK CYDIA]). That way, the ultrasn0w works.!!

i have a problem i install redsnown0.9.9b6 and did jaibreak but the last step they said through the redsnow 0.9.9bs said ” For the time being redsnow requires that you manually select the IPSW in the extras screen in order to specify the current build..and this will be fixed in a future release”. i went back to redsnow then select extras and select IPSW manual when i click that nothing saying there only my personal computer files there.. i dont know what im gonna do now, still i cant use other network to my phone,,pls help me

You have to reboot in dfu mode every time. Have red snow running and hild power for 3 then hold home button for 10 release power keep holding home button – if you dont know what im talking about go back to stock

just restore it with ITunes, hold the top button until it shut down…after that..plug your usb into your laptop with Itunes open….hold the home button of your iphone…after that…plug the cable up to your iphone…you will see it works…but you will lose everything..

hi i have an iphone 3gs and i was able to jailbreak it and i followed the steps using cydia to try to unlock it, so after i installed ultralsnow it pressed reboot, and it keeps staying on apple logo, then turns off for a few secs then back to apple logo again. Is it suppose to take a while to reboot again?

you have to upgrade baseband with redsn0w to 6.15. only problem is in the future u cannot upgrade with stock ipsw.

Connect your phone with PC and Use Ultrasn0w to boot it. I won’t boot without it.

Im assuming you are jailbreaking a 5.0? you will have to download the IPSW file and store it in your Pwnage file folder on the desktop. Then choose that IPSW file manually. Then attempt the jailbreak again.

It is normal if your j/b unlock is teathered.. You will have to select extras, and “just boot” to finish the unlock. Takes a few min, restarts and then u get the slider.

iphone 4 with iOS5: same problem as some other users: the jailbreak &installing Cydia seems to work fine, but then I can’t do the unlock… at the end of it, the phone just gets stuck on the apple screen forever. No matter how many times I try, always the same problem. And I’ve done the “just boot” a dozen times too, doesn’t help…

i had this prob too. ur phone needs to be jailbroken again and unlocked. when you ugrade to a new software it needs to be activated with authorized carrier (at&t) sim. i’m stuck now having to ujnlock after tethered jailbreak redsnow 0.9.9b3 and ultrasn)w 1.2.4. trying to find a way.

have you tried to tether boot it? if it doesn’t restart you might have the wrong firmware

Well guys, I talked to some people and they told me I should activate the device with the sim card from the original provider before using ultrasn0w. So, in my case, what I’m supposed to do now is:

- Connect iphone to itunes
- Insert sim card to activate the device
- Use ultrasn0w to unlock to any carriers

After that, everthing should be fine.

hi im on my iphone 3gs and i don’t seem to be able to get through the whole rebooting process it seems to get passed most of the build passed the pineapple to an apple screen i wait then it kicks out to a loading icon screen an freezes there. i waited but it didnt jump out. tryed a few different things and seem to always end up there. any ideas????

what if i have a baseband of 4.11.08? the jailbreaking part seem to work but when i install ultrasnow and it tells me to reboot it just stays on the apple screen for what seems like forever. is there any way to fix this? or will i not be able to unlock my iphone yet with the bb 4.11.08?

I just upgraded to IOS 5 and jailbreak was succesfull and using cyida, I tried to unlock my Iphone 3gs with the baseband 06.15.00, Iphone says just searching… and then No service…. any help to fix this issue would be helpfull… but i notice the sim is been recogonized because in General > Settings> Carrier (is enabled) and in General > Settings> Phone i could able to see the SIM Applications…. But only problem is iphone now says “searching” no matter what sim i put.

the above step is a idot one, doenot works…no one do-not try it.

Strange thing. Jailbreaked iOS 5.0 3GS with redsn0w_win_0.9.9b8 The phone has 06.15.00 baseband but ultrasn0w does not unlock it. I reinstalled the ultrasn0w few times and restarted the phone, but still show SEARCHING and NO SERVICE

Try mobilesubstrate_0.9.3367-1 copy this through winSCP to autoinstall folder in cydia.
Another thing, restore to default network settings

Hi there I’ve found a fix for iphone 3Gs users: after installing ios 5 and u stuck with: no service….
run redsn0w 0.9.9b4 (for windows vista or 7 as administrator) click on extras then select IPSW and find
IOS 5 file then u need to go back to redsn0w main windows this time click on jailbreak and select only
INSTALL IPAD BASEBAND and DEACTIVATE and let redsn0w do the rest.
*The only problem i’m having now is SAFARI crashes and my email still no sync. everything else runs just as expected good luck !

and make sure you follow steps exactly – in my case i had no service..after long waiting of searching…..but i have installed IOS 5 – other thing that my help remove sim card and when u prompted to allow locations say NO (you can enable it later) – if the first try did not succeed: put your iphone in recovery mode and restore from itunes and then run redsn0w 0.9.9b4 one more time.

@ Apresdee: Try this, Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 Semi Untethered: RESTART ALL OVER AGAIN I HAD SAME PROBLEM

STEP 1: Download iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5.0.1 final version.

STEP 2: Backup your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and restore it using the iOS 5.0.1 IPSW file downloaded from the first step.

STEP 3: Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 for Windows or Mac OS X

STEP 4: Open Redsn0w and select “Extras” then “Select IPSW” and browse for the iOS 5.0 IPSW file NOTE iOS 5.0 IPSW file AND NOT THE 5.0.1.
When redsnow finish’s put the phone into DFU mode restart redsnow select extra’s select IPSW again select the iOS 5.0 IPSW file then select just boot tethered for now, then wait as it takes a while.

After restore of 5.0.1 in itunes, when you select the 5.0 restore Be sure to ticl install ipad baseband (AGAIN) and Deactivate, this will solve the no service issue

Hi there, i have followed the instruction and phone still has no service. I am in Ireland and the carrier is 02 i have a bill sim with 02 and it wont work. I tried my wifes who is on prepay and that wont work. I have upgraded the BB to 6.15.00 and the jailbreak is ios5 with sn0wbreeze-v2.7.3. any ideas on how to get the service back up. its weird if i build it with the original ios5 software it say the sim is not recognised driving me made.

When getting this problem i found that when entering the device into DFU if you keep holding the home button right through whilst the jailbreak is working it gets past this point

Hi, I’ve just jailbroke on my iphone 3gs with out any trouble. BUT when I tried to unlock it, I keep getting “no service”.

First of all, please be aware that untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 is not yet available and baseband 5.16.05 can’t be unlocked.

However, it is still possible to unlock your iPhone by updating the baseband to 6.15.00. This is an iPad baseband which can break your GPS. Read the risks here. If you don’t fancy 6.15.00 then these guys can replace baseband chip.

Did you read and understand all the risks? OK, let’s proceed.

Strangely, Apple is still signing iOS 4.1 which you need to downgrade your iPhone 3GS to. The reason why you need to downgrade to iOS 4.1 first is so that you can update your baseband to 6.15.00.

please be aware that untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 is not yet available and baseband 5.16.05 can’t be unlocked. so i choose another option called WHITED00r.but its seems during the usage mobile may get Heat….that we all should analyze on it…..so collect info about ” whited00r “. this can be useful to unlock the mobile which contain baseband 5.16.

Hi those who are stuck on locked/ibricked iphone 3gs with 6.15.00 BB,
The Solution for ultrasn0w unlock problem in 6.15.00 BB 3GS (new bootrom), l found is, to re-flash the BB 6.15.00.
I myself, was stuck for full two days/nights facing this problem, while upgrading to innocent 4.3.3 from my iphone 3gs 4.1 fw and 6.15.00 BB (old bootrom). I checked all through the net and found this strange problem faced by many people and there is no logical answer from anyone! And also what i found that, the problem faced by the person who were previously in 6.15.00 BB and now want to do something with their iPhone.
So, the issue is what ever i did i was ending the process (i.e. redsn0w, sn0wbreeze, IReb rc4, tinyumbrella, Device manager and i don’t know how many more) of jailbreaking process with corrupted 6.15.00 BB! So whatever the version of ultrasn0w i used, and what ever i did after that (modifying the root files, carrier .plist etc) i ended up as “No Service” or one bar or no carrier option in the settings.
So, the sum up of the solution is:

You need, Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze, 4.1 IPSW stock FW
Step 1.
Downgrade your FW to 4.1 (this worked for me) using sn0wbreeze (Unless u don’t know how to use sn0wbreeze, it’s same like redsn0w but it can customize the stock FW of 4.1 so that itunes cannot throw the 1015 error). U can use sn0wbreeze version 2.1 (which works for FW 3.2.2 to 4.1) to do this. Follow the screen intructions. One thing more, if you find problem going to DFU mode use
redsn0w_win_0.9.9b9 (use the ‘extras’ > pwned DFU & can also use other version too). And if you still he itunes 1015 error use iReb to get out of this.

Step 2.
Use the redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc16 version (U can also use other version too) to install the 6.15.00 ipad BB only. This is the main step which will make your BB suitable for ultrasn0w 1.2 or above to unlock. Unmark any other option like install Cydia etc.

Step 3
Unlock with ultrasn0w 1.2 or above (whatever the method with or without wifi). Reboot the device. If the settings>carrier option enabled, u r done. Give it 3-5 minutes for the first time to search for the carrier. that’s it.

Sorry that I have taken so much time, coz i was frustrated myself once and i don’t want to see anyone like me with 6.15.00 BB.

There is nothing to worry about iphone 3gs if its 16gb .. just make sure that you already have installed ultra snow on your device .. if you have already upgraded just email me i ll tell you the steps or attach the snap shorts

go head to cydia and reinstall the ultrasnow .. thats it ..

once you update device to ipad baseband then there is no way to get GPS back using the carrier internet .. !!

simple and possible way is only to downgrade your phone to 4.1 and put cydia again then put ultrasnow and you will be fine !!

iPhone 3g 4.2.1 on ipad baseband 06.15.00 – went through redsn0w 09.6b6 and ipsw 4.2.1_8c148 restore for jailbreak…open Cydia and add ultrasn0w 1.2.5…install ultrasn0w, but during the install the message “could not activate cellular data network” comes up before the install has completed. After hitting springboard and inserting sim card, it searches and then says “No Service”. I’m not technically savvy…I don’t know if I missed something or where the issue lies.
