When Apple releases a new software, it always comes with some problems. One of the most popular problems is that iBooks crashes when you tap on the iBooks icon, it will result in an immediate crash. It looks like some hackers managed to fix this problem on iOS 5.
The popular and well-known iPhone developer iH8sn0w, who is the one behind Sn0wbreeze, iREB, iFaith and other tools, posted a video showing iBooks on a jailbroken iPod running iOS 5.
As you can see below, the iBooks opens normally without any crashes.
iH8sn0w explains why the issue happens:
Managed to fix iBooks when being jailbroken and running iOS 5.
The issue was dealing with how redsn0w/sn0wbreeze did sandbox patches in the kernel. For those that don’t know, sandbox is a security measure that is used to ensure applications such as Safari don’t have access to personal information or system files.
However, iH8sn0w says that he won’t release the fix for public since it’s not stable.
