If you have issues jailbreaking, simply place the device into DFU mode and restore it via itunes, then attempt the jailbreak again, it worked for me. Trying to spread the word so people get more successful jailbreaks.

Place device into DFU mode, restore via itunes, activate the device, and then try the jailbreak again.

i tried in on the iphone 4s but i did not get the last screen it said phone restored and unplug for retry jailbreak, did it over 4 times followed all the instructions please help

I’ve exactly the same issue. I erased all content etc, ran absinthe as admin on win7 ultimate 64bit, and it did the first part, it rebooted then hang on completing process. I unplugged and the device was fine, but still no jailbreak!

I had the same exact issue, but restored my iPad 1 Wifi by putting it into DFU mode and restoring it via itunes, then activating it by going through the initial settings configs on my ipad, then I tried the jailbreak again and it worked. Restored the backup I made before I started this whole thing, and it works perfectly.

We will try John’s troubleshooting step. many got it working by restoring via itunes using DFU mode.. I’m doing it now. will post if it will be successful

Hi CAG, I have an IPAD ( 3rd Generation Wifi only ) ..For Iphone 4s, as long as it is not dependent with unlock. this JB is good to go. just please dont forget to back up via icloud or PC. cuz we don’t want you loosing your important contacts. there are videos in you tube on how to enter DFU mode. if in PC its like reformatting ur Windows

Can the baseband be preserved using redsn0w and then can the jailbreak be done using Absinthe?

I tried it and did the whole process and it goes until waiting for process to complete then it says “recovery has recovered files” or something like that “Please re attach your device to re try jailbreak”

Its not working on win 7 in last step it say “hmm something has gone wrong..and restores”

U might wanna install “openbackup” from cydia then backup cydia tweaks … then upgrade ur version to 5.1.1 and then jailbreak it… install “openbackup” from cydia again and then click restore in the application

click advanced tab and then make sure u have “set hosts to cydia on exit” UNCHECKED
then exit tinyumbrella
and then replug ur iphone and reopen itunes then try restoring… let me know if it helps

I haven’t tried it yet but if it’s like any other jailbreak on windows you guys did set affinity to only cpu 1 on multi core cpus, right? The problems you describe sound like the problem you get trying to jailbreak with more than 1 core being active.

You’ve probably got apple blocked in your hosts file. Remove the entry, update, and then put the entry back in.

do not know if it will work, but my Ipad 3 was not jailbreaking, I did a clean restore (restored from itunes) as soon as it finished (before doing anything) I used absinthe and it worked its magic.

Adam, I looked on other website and it seems like others that have this same model are having the same problem. Cant say that its the case but it might be. My iPad seemed at first like it was not supported but I backed it up, erased all content and settings, updated iTunes and restarted my computer. I had another issue after that and downloading Absinthe 2.0.1 fixed it for me. Although i had to do erase all content and settings one more time when running the updated absinthe

Yesterday I JB my Iphone 4 with Absinthe 2.0. Today I restored the phone with Itunes and then downloaded Absinthe 2.0.1 but I get a message saying ‘ device not supported. Any idea why I can’t do another JB? I tried version 2.0 again but that gives me the same message. Would appreciate some help sorting out what is wrong please.

did you figure this out, im having the same problem…. Apparently pod2g said to reset and unlock again, but when i do reset it stays stuck on spinning wheel and i have no choice but to do a hard reset (holding power and home button same time until turns off). So now ive resorted to restoring phone in itunes and will try to unlock again, hopefully this works.

ok, i downloaded an app in appstore called geekbench2 for only 99 cents.. if you run the benchmark it tells u all the info about your ipad (iphone, ipod..).. mine is 2,1.. now i only need a working link for windows version of absithe 2 so i can update to 5.1 and be happy with cydia

apple released a new software some while ago same thing happened to mine, now we have to wait for a new absinthe update that supports it.. i got this info from snowbreeze and it makes sense

I think I followed all the instructions: first I made a backup using itunes, then I erased data and contents from iphone (settings/gral/restore/erase..), after I jailbroken with absinthe 2.0.1, after I restore from the backup. I haven’t receive any error, simply I don’t have my apps.. Could you help me

simple guide for those who have 4s (5.0.1 jailbreak)

1) backup first using itunes (if you have contacts/images/messages/notes etc) [but if none. skip to #2]
2) restore with clean ios 5.1.1 from link above
3) run absinthe but version 2.0.1 from greenp0ison(dot)com

[if you did backup #1]
4) after jailbreaking [
5) open itunes -> restore (restore to the latest backup you made)
6) enjoy! your important files are back (from iPhone 5.0.1 to iPhone 5.1.1)

Make sure you have went into apps tab under your device tp check off the apps you wanna sync. Worst case scenario, if they are gone, you can redownload them through the original accout on the itunes store. Also you might make sure they arent synced up in icloud.

It may be tedius but go through cydia and write down all your packages and resources. Restore the normal method through itunes (from backup). Run absinthe, load all your stuff bak and you should be in good shape.

The only difference you should see is cydia. From there on its all up to you.

Just wanted to add i didnt realize how buggy 5.0.1 was until I started using 5.1.1. It deffinitly improved battery life, atleast in my case on the 4s

Guys, you need to down load absinth 2.0.1 not the links hosted under this topic. Google it or go to green poison dot com and download it there. Simply updating your phone through Apples server is more difficult then getting your phone jail broken, I promise!

Hi all. I finally got it updated to 5.1.1 and jailbroken to work on my IPAD 1 but with a lot of aggravation. Based on that I am “not” going to update to 5.1.1 on my IPHONE. I am running 5.0.1 jailbroken and it is fine. My suggestion would be to stay on 5.0.1 jailbroken if you have it and can. Any questions shoot me a note.

Joe, try the following.

1. Go into settings and Erase all Content and Settings.
2. Download fresh copy of latest version of Absinthe
3. Attach to PC and Absinthe should run perfectly.

This is what I did with my IPAD 1 after much aggravation. For my IPone I am staying on 5.0.1 jailbroken. Not taking any chances. Good luck

hello iphone users, i´ve tried to jb for 2 days and couldn´t. but finally it´s done in less than 3 minutes.
I have iphone 4 with iOS 5.1.1. All you have to do is go to settings, general, reset, erase all setting and datas. after that, make sure you download abstinthe 2.0.2, not (2.0 nor 2.0.1) or you will have a msg the device is not surpported. activate your iphone on iTunes, but dont restore your backups yet. open abstinthe 2.0.2 and it will automatically recognize your device. it takes less than 3 minutes to have it jailbroken. i hope this helps to all newbies like me. enjoy it.

I have an iPhone 4 with 5.1.1. I tried the jailbreak one time, and it said there was an error, and it would not install. I tried it again, and it failed again. I gave up then. I noticed my phone kept turning off and the black screen with the little circle kept showing up. I then went to my camera roll, and all of my photos and videos were deleted. I could not add music to my phone, either. What seems to be the problem?
Just now, I tried to jailbreak again. I erased my data and settings (restored, but also included data from a backup I just did). I installed the the jailbreak, and it would not install. Windows said Absinthe stopped working…
I’ve heard that in previous jailbreaks, if the camera roll is deleted, once the jailbreak app is reinstalled, all pictures would show up again. Is this possible? Please, any help would be appreciated.

HELP!!! I downloaded the jailbrake but then it was acting stupid and I couldnt figure out how to take off cydia so i started deleting the files off of there and it deleted cydia now my computer (windows 7) or itunes wont detect my phone so i can do a restore. Ive tried to put it into dfu mode that doesnt work. Ive tried checking the drivers on my computer that didnt work, i checked the usb cords and ports, those all work fine but the computer says it is a unknown device I still have winterboard stuck on my phone also. I reset the phone erase all settings and winterboard remains. All i can do is make calls I cant connect to wifi or anything else I need help!!

W what should I do if I entered my apple id into my phone before I restored it?

Sure it helped… n yeah it worked for me… the trick was ‘Reset n Erase all ur data’… which u can easily get after if u backup. Gr8.

I have some problem… i successfully jail-broke my iPod touch… After I installed some ‘Tweaks’ from Cydia, now my Home button doesn’t seem to work… what I mean is, its not broken.. It works, but pressing it doesn’t take me to home! eg: I’m opening an app from folder, press home > it exits app, n opens folder, press again, nothing happens [its supposed to exit folder], press again, nothing happens [its supposed to take u to home screen] !!!! Does anyone else hass same prob ????
