ok, if you made sure to make a full backup before, just do the restore on the ipad, without usb cable in. Once the initial stages are done, with settting it up, i skipped the itunes id thing, and replugged the cable, with itunes shut down, made sure to kill itunes when it booted, did the first command with the config

input the payload thing, got an error, used the first command by mistake, got an error, redid the payload thing, now it did it with no errors!
so i went on to the last command, never got the pod2g in the ohuse though, but it worked, and cydia is installed atm!

on Ipad2 after step 7 you have to go on Settings and then turn on VPN…. after that cydia will install itself without any Absinthe icon appearing or anything else

maybe slight instructions missing i done as per instructions above , but no absinthe icon. went to settings,general,network then enabled vpn which failed but clicked on jailbreak option that was under choose a configuration(add vpn configuration) ipad restarted and cydia was on last window

figured it out. if u extracted the file wrong you have to type CD C:Cinject_0.4.3Cinject_0.4.3

^ then execute from there.

You guys need to remember where u put it. if its directly in the C: folder you should only have to type CD C:cinject_0.4.3

but if u look at the extracted folder of Cinject and it has 2 folders youll have to write
CD C:cinject_0.4.3cinject_0.4.3

then execute step 5

How long did it take for program to finish “creating backup”? Once I’m done with mine I’ll stay on here for another 30 minutes to help people. Just reply to this with your concerns or answers. I’m sort of knowledgeable because I have jailbroken in the past like this but never had to backup.

I just installed with no problems and I just followed the directions!!! I am not a computer wizz but its easy. U have to back up and restore as new but skip restore from backup and just input your apple ID as if u were new and follow the instructions on the command line works great!!!

Reading the instructions, it worked fine for me. If you get “send1: result too large”, is your iPhone busy restoring apps from iCloud? I temporarily went into airplane mode for this part and it worked once I done that.

When you do the -w command, don’t wait for something to happen, go into the settings and switch on VPN, and your screen may start flashing almost in sync with the command window, but you’ll get a progress bar and when that gets near the end, the iPhone should restart, but now with a Cydia icon! Result!!!

1: make sure you placed the downloaded folder directly into the C:
2. Make sure that you are in the C: when launching cmd, when I launch CMD it puts me in a my documents folder by default; type “cd” and this should change your directory to the root drive C:

Nope, just some kind of wifi error note and an infinite listing of command line prompts. Actually, it did prompt VPN connection error once I switched it on on my iPad, but then the device reset and turned on with Cydia installed. I am not sure if you should turn on VPN immediately after initiating step 7, try giving it some time as there are some processes going on.. Good luck!

the jailbreak seems to be doing a backup-restore so in order for this to do that its just backing up the required files… this took me about 15 minutes to get to the next step.

after step 6 my ipad rebooted and when it turned on it had white cydia icon but not absinthe and vydia started, what do i have to do restore and do again?

Yahoo! After 3 months iPhone 4s jailbroken via Windows and I never had to mess with a tethered JB…much luv to hackers =) It took me a few tries but I got it. What worked for me was backing my phone up-updating to 5.0.1 from the phone-Settings > General > Reset. I restored it right then and there-paying careful attention to any spaces in command prompts-not entering a password for pod2g-then for step 9…settings>vpn turn on>error, I didn’t push any thing else and just waited for a few seconds and it rebooted-bam Cydia =)

Worked like a charm, thanks! I had the FATAL(_LINE_) error but the instructions to fix it worked beautifully. All in all it took about 5 minutes including the initial backup to iTunes! I’m glad I found this instead of waiting for the Windows version.

This is due to you having the files in a folder, within a folder, within a folder etc

I have mine set in my downloads folder. In cmd you’ll have type in cd downloads, then cd cinject_0.4.3. you should then have no trouble when trying the execute the command

Under profile I have jailbreak. Does that need to stay there, or was it just used to load everything? Has anyone tried removing it?

It worked!! Got the fatal error at first on step 6, but then I erased all contents and data under general>reset and worked like a beast. 32gb wifi iPad 2.

Just start as new, do the JB then restore from your backup in iTunes once the JB is complete.

I believe the profile is only there to configure the VPN settings during the jailbreak, but for safety I wouldn’t mess with it.

If cydia is there and it works, I’d say your good. Make sure your phone can restart and cydia is still there. I’m by no means a professional at this, just made a better list of steps that worked for me

doesnt really need to turn on the VPN.. it works fine for me even without turning it on.

I have a tip for the people not doing there best to read instructions carefully and dont panic when their iDevice isnt responding: DONT JAILBREAK!

This is the main reason Apple made their devices so easy for panic people and people who want everything to be installed with one click.

Seriously dont jailbreak youre iDevice if you dont know how to solve things on youre own.

I myself had some errors i just readed instructions and used my brains.

check to make sure you unzipped the file correct. Go to C:cinject and make sure there is not another file inside

Hi, i am in the right DIR, I have run cmd.exe as admin but when I type cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig it just does nothing. So I manually installed the profile using config tool. So I go to cinject.exe -j payloads – again in the right folder and running cmd as admin. It just does nothing. Any ideas please? Thanks

I get the profile installed. I follow the steps. I run all 3 cinjects. After I run -w, I wait about 30 seconds for the scripts to run through. I toggle the VPN on. after about 20 seconds, I get a message that the VPN config error. Then it does not rebot. no cydia. I have tried this about 10 times

I had an issue with the restore portion after the backup. I backed up my phone in iTunes, then followed the instructions for the error “For FATAL(_LINE_) error, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. Then do the procedure all over again” and it worked like a charm after that. I didn’t even have to tap on an Absinthe button and Cydia was already on my springboard.

if you already have an iCloud backup you should be able to go to the iCloud settings in your jailbroken phone and turn on whatever you want synced, restart and things should start showing up. This is what I did, but I had everything synced to iCloud before I started the jailbreak process.

You must be on 5.0.1 to jailbreak…

Make sure the folder “cinject_0.4.3″ is copied to the C: drive, and make sure that there isn’t another folder inside that folder with the same name. the full address should be C:cinject_0.4.3 not C:cinject_0.4.3cinject_0.4.3. The second option is what the address would look like if it was the folder within a folder.

before typing *cinject.exe -j payloads*, you have to install the jailbreak profile which appears on iphone you just press install, it will ask a password, you just say continue because there isn’t any password

try it again and make sure you create a backup of your phone in itunes or preferrably the iCloud. Then go to settings – general – reset – erase all content and settings. after that retry and the backup should be fairly quick, mine worked in about 30 seconds. Once the phone is jailbroken you can restore all your photos and contacts and such from the icloud backup.

Everything worked well, except that I now have a blank safari icon…

My updated iPhone jailbreak instructions, jailbroken on iOs5.0.1:

STEP 0: I would recommend syncing anything you want saved to iCloud via the iCloud settings page before you start the jailbreak process, just in case you have to install the jailbreak from a new iPhone, that way you can sync all of these things to your already jailbroken iphone.

STEP 1: Download CLI Absinthe for Windows and Mac OS X from the link above.

STEP 2: Unzip the folder named cinject_0.4.3 into the system folder, i.e. C:.

STEP 3: Now go to the start menu, click on run and type in cmd.exe.

STEP 4: In the command window, type: CD C:cinject_0.4.3 as shown to get into the required folder.

STEP 5: You’ll now need to execute CLI. Do this by typing: cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig. Tap the install button that appears on your iPhone, there is no password for the VPN so just hit next.

STEP 6: Now execute cinject.exe -j payloads and wait for the backup. (If you get the FATAL(_LINE_) error, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. When you’re iPhone restarts, start as a new iPhone and repeat steps 1-6.)

STEP 7: Execute the command cinject.exe -w. After the first wave of text goes through on the command prompt, on your iPhone, go to Settings – General – Network – VPN and turn the VPN toggle from off to on, after a few moments there will be an error message and the phone will restart, when it starts again, you’ll find cydia on the second page of apps.

The error is normal, you shouldn’t turn on the VPN until after step 7′s command stops running in the command prompt, after that once you turn the VPN on, it should run a few more lines in the command prompt and your phone will restart.

command prompt seems to stop at the ‘cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig’ part. it seems to just stop and nothing comes up on the ipad or the computer, any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Guys help me please! I got my self an FATAL(_LINE_) error, so I had to restart my device, but it asks for RESTRICTIONS PASSWORD, witch I FORGOT.
How could I see my password?

I recommend everyone to do a back up to your divices on iTunes…then Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. Setup as New Device & trying again when you finish on itunes in top of your divices do a right click and press restore from back up……..i promise it will work fine

Nah, simple error, it was asking for my phone lock passcode, and I mistook it for the passcode with the next button at the top so I was confused as there was no way around it. all good haha, I feel like an idiot.

1. download the cinject_0.4.3.zip
2. when cinject_0.4.3.zip complete downloaded, “cut & paste” it in your main harddrive, “C:/”
3. when using winzip, right click on cinject and click extract here
4. now u will have cinject_0.4.3 folder
5. close all window, next move to “cmd”
6. press start button, and type cmd
7. point your mouse to cmd, and make sure to run as admin
8. heres what you need to type in cmd:
i. cd c:/
ii. cd cinject_0.4.3
iii. cinject -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig
iv. then, on your ipad just click “install”,”install now”, “next”
v. cinject -j payloads

I have just restored my iPad2 on iTunes after the jailbreak and it’s OK, it doesn’t loose the jailbreak.

if u get stuck in “cinject.exe -w” go to iphone settings and if u see the VPN off tap it on, that did it for me after waiting a while

You have to have the files inside the folder, not the files inside the folder of the folder.. I copy and pasted the files inside the folder and erased the second folder and it worked

I suggest using Erase All Content And Settings first. I backed up to my computer and at setup chose to set up as new phone. Then I ran the CLI in a batch file and it worked within 30 seconds. Afterwards I restored from iTunes and all is well.

then you are in the wrong folder, type dir chances are there is another cinject folder you need to be inside of that where the cinject.exe file is

when you went to VPN connection setting did you observe that your idevice was connecting to the VPN profile jailbreak, if it did then you will not get the error.

It must be the fact that were on 5.0 thats causing the issue then, guess were going to have to update?!

Dumb question guys, but i just jailbroke my ipad.. by resetting and deleting all content first. I have the ipad backed up, will restoring it take away the jailbreak? I suppose it would.. unless it just restores content?

No, restoring wont take your jailbreak away

My updated iPhone jailbreak instructions, jailbroken on iOs5.0.1:

STEP 0: I would recommend syncing anything you want saved to iCloud via the iCloud settings page before you start the jailbreak process, just in case you have to install the jailbreak from a new iPhone, that way you can sync all of these things to your already jailbroken iphone.

STEP 1: Download CLI Absinthe for Windows and Mac OS X from the link above.

STEP 2: Unzip the folder named cinject_0.4.3 into the system folder, i.e. C:.

STEP 3: Now go to the start menu, click on run and type in cmd.exe.

STEP 4: In the command window, type: CD C:cinject_0.4.3 as shown to get into the required folder.

STEP 5: You’ll now need to execute CLI. Do this by typing: cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig. Tap the install button that appears on your iPhone, there is no password for the VPN so just hit next.

STEP 6: Now type “cinject.exe -j payloads” then hit enter and wait for the backup. (If you get the FATAL(_LINE_) error, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings. When you’re iPhone restarts, start as a new iPhone and repeat steps 1-6.)

STEP 7: Type “cinject.exe -w” then hit enter. After the first wave of text goes through on the command prompt, on your iPhone, go to Settings – General – Network – VPN and turn the VPN toggle from off to on, after a few moments there will be an error message and the phone will restart, when it starts again, you’ll find cydia on the second page of apps.

guys follow the directions to the tee! i accidentally skipped a step. it was just spinning because i didnt see the command before. it takes less than 4 min

after vpn error ocurred nothing hapens , no cydia, no absinthe, no reboot, i rerun over and over again. plz help

thats normal. follow the commands above.. then when it tells you toggle vpn on and it will reboot

Okay from what i have gathered make sure you follow the directions correctly , copy and paste the command lines so you don’t have any typing errors , when you copy make sure you don’t include the space in front of the command line or the punctuation at the end.
also make sure you are paying attention to you phone because you will have to install the profile on it.

The best way to do this is to do a reset first erasing all content and data. Follow the steps to jailbreak and once jailbroken do another reset but this time only select reset all setttings. Once the phone comes back restore from back up using icloud. Now you will have all your data back but still be jailbroken.
