It looks like you’ll need to wait more to get Apple’s Siri service on your older devices as the iPhone 4 or iPod touch 4G. An iPhone 4S jailbreak will be required to port Siri on the iPhone 4 as well as other iOS devices on iOS 5.
In case you’re not aware, it was discovered that Siri is not made only for A5 devices (iPhone 4S and iPad 2) and a while after the discovery, Siri assistant was successfully ported to the iPhone 4. At the beginning it was a little buggy but the developer could get it work a lot faster.
iOS 5 jailbreak is already available with the latest redsn0w and previous one too. All current jailbreak tools can’t jailbreak iPad 2 or iPhone 4S on iOS 5. Only do a tethered jailbreak on iOS 5 on other devices.
The news comes from iH8sn0w who tweeted saying that in order to get Siri on all devices other than the iPhone 4S, a jailbreak for the iPhone 4S will be required:
The only way I could see Siri being *legally* available for devices other than the iPhone 4S is when a jailbreak is available for it. A tool could be developed to transfer all required files from the 4S to another possible candidate via USB. Other than that, it would just be straight up piracy as mentioned by@MuscleNerd a few days ago. #OpenThinking
What MuscleNerd said on the day of iOS 5 release is that Siri will require piracy to get it on other devices. That will be illegal and most of hackers & developers won’t agree to do that.
There’s no a big status about the iPhone 4S jailbreak but we’ve known that both the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S have the same bootrom and dumping this bootrom has already started by some jailbreak hackers.
